Please note the information below in preparation for our December 2016 Alumni General Membership Meeting:
General Membership Meeting
 
Our next Alumni General Membership meeting is scheduled for Thursday, December 1, 2016, 6pm-7:30pm, in the McDonogh 35 Library, 4000 Cadillac Street, located on the first floor.  As always, please contact fellow Roneagles and either bring them with you or encourage them to attend and become an official paid member of the McDonogh 35 Alumni Association. Click to see the December meeting agenda and November meeting minutes. The financial secretary's report will be forthcoming in January as we are completing the financial review of the finance records. 
   
School Performance Scores 

The Louisiana Department of Education's (LDoE) 2015-16 School Performance Scores (SPS) were recently released.  McDonogh 35 received a 76.5 Grade C. This is an improvement from the 2014-15 score of 70.3 Grade C .  Principal John Green will be on hand at the December 1, 2106 General Membership Meeting to discuss the 2015-16 scores an what plans are in place to make improvements. Below are the Letter Grade and Rating Scores used by the LDoE:
  A 100 - 150
  B 85 - 99.9
  C 70 - 84.9
  D 47.1 - 69.9
  F 0 - 47
  • 25 percent is attributed to student performance on the ACT or WorkKeys
  • 25 percent is attributed to student performance on End-of-Course assessments
  • 25 percent is attributed to the strength of diploma index, which rewards achievements like Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exam credit
  • 25 percent is attributed to the cohort graduation rate, or the percentage of students who started 9th grade and graduated on-time within four year
 
Schools may also earn additional points for significant improvement with students who are academically behind.

Any active member may join at any time. We can only be successful as our membership participates in activities that promote our organization goal of "Giving Back and Paying Forward".
 
Centennial Celebration

The Centennial Celebration Committee is continuously planning activities for McDonogh 35 100th year celebration.  Fund raisers and other activities are ongoing.  For more information or to participate on this committee please email mcdonogh35alumniassociation@yahoo.com . It has come to our attention that there is a fraudulent website called  alumniclass.com  that has McDonogh 35 listed as one of its patrons and is charging $20 to become a member.

McDonogh 35 Alumni Social

T he McDonogh 35 2nd Annual Alumni Winter Social is scheduled for Friday, December 23 , 2016, at the Regency Reception Hall, 7300 Downman Rd., 8pm-12:00 Midnight. The event is sponsored by the Alumni Association and ALL are invited (whether they are a McDonogh 35 graduate or not). Our last year's event was a success and everyone had a great time!!!!! Click here to purchase $20 pre-sale tickets.  Tickets will be available for purchase during the General Membership meeting on Thursday.



Roneagle Football

Pre-Sale tickets ($10) for Friday's Semi-Final football game against Karr at Berhman Stadium at 7 pm will be on sale at the school.  

Sales will begin on Thursday, December 1st at 12:00 noon until Friday at 2 pm.  Tickets will be available for purchase at the General Membership meeting on Thursday.  
Wall of Fame

The McDonogh 35 Senior High School Centennial Celebration Committee will honor a number of graduates - for their personal and professional achievements that represent the legacy for which McDonogh 35 Senior High School is noted.    Click here to see the Wall of Fame criteria and Wall of Fame nomination forms .   Forms can be submitted by class or family members. All nomination forms must be postmarked or emailed to  mcdonogh35alumniassociation@yahoo.com  by  January 31, 2017.  Once confirmed by the Centennial Nomination Review Committee, a nominal fee of $100 (per honoree) is required.  The fee will defray the cost of the "Wall of Fame" display and honorees' name plate. Buy a Brick  
 


The Alumni Association is selling commemorative bricks that will be installed in the school courtyard. Bricks cost $135 each and should include your n ame and graduating year. There is a 3-line maximum with 21 characters per line. The deadline to order is February 28, 2017. You can order your brick online at mcdoogh35alumniassociation.org. You can mail a check payable to McDonogh 35 Alumni Association for $135.00. Please include "brick" in memo section along with a note of what you want on your brick.

Roneagle in the Spotlight 
 


Dr. Catina Peoples is a class of 1990 graduate of McDonogh 35 Senior High School. She received her Bachelor of Science from Xavier University of Louisiana in Speech Pathology.  After graduation, she enlisted in the United States Army Reserves as a Mortuary Affairs Specialist.  She went on to receive her Master of Arts in Audiology from the University of Northern Iowa. Consequently, She was commissioned as a First Lieutenant in the U. S. Army Medical Service Corps as an Audiologist.  In 1996, she earned her Doctor of Audiology degree from the A.T. Still University, Arizona School of Health Sciences.  For the past 14 years, Dr. Peoples has been employed at the VA Hospital in New Orleans.  She currently serves as the Acting Chief of the Audiology and Speech Pathology Service.

Dr. Peoples is also the President of the newly formed McDonogh 35 JROTC Booster Club.  If you are interested in joining the booster club or need additional information, please contact NSI Senior Chief Barnes via email:  rommico_barnes@opsb.us.

RENEW YOUR DUES

The Association's Fiscal Year is from October 1- September 30. You may now pay your 2016-17 Alumni Dues via PayPal. Yearly Membership dues are $35 and Lifetime Membership dues are $350. Lifetime Membership dues may also be paid in five $70 installment payments. Also when you pay please put your graduating year in the comment section   (and, if you are paying with your business account, your first & last name as well).  Please pay by clicking on the appropriate PayPal button below.

Your 2015-16 dues payment allowed us to provide support to our Fair 35 in a variety of ways!  This past school year, your investment has afforded us the opportunity to award $3,000 to seniors who applied and were interviewed for the Alumni Association's Scholarships.  Also, additional funds of over $2.000.00 were provided for school and student support, to include the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Academy and awards for students at the inaugural honors breakfast through our Soaring to Excellence initiative. Our ability to fund these programs was made possible by our active members.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL INSTALLMENT PAYMENTS MUST BE PAID IN THE SAME FISCAL YEAR. IF INSTALLMENT PAYMENTS ARE NOT RECEIVED BY SEPT. 30, 2016,  THE PAYMENTS MADE, LESS 15-16, DUES WILL BE REALLOCATED TO SCHOLARSHIPS.
