Lunchtime Low Balance Notification
Beginning Monday, families will receive email notification if their child's Lunchtime account balance falls below $10.  This is for informational purposes only.

To add funds to this account, you may log into your son or daughter's MMS Lunchtime account to add funds to this balance.  You may also send a minimum of $10.00 via check only (no cash) in an envelope marked clearly with your child's name, homeroom, and ID number, to the school office.

Please be reminded of our low balance policy, which was included on the Lunchtime Cafeteria Program Guidelines Acknowledgement Form you signed and submitted at the beginning of the school year.  It states, "If a student has a lunchtime balance at $0.00 or below, they will only have the option to purchase a "low balance lunch" consisting of a peanut butter and jelly or cheese sandwich, fruit, and drink (1% white milk, iced tea, or orange drink) for $3.00.

We also encourage parents to sign up for email notifications when their Lunchtime account balances are getting low through the MMS Lunchtime portal.

Coat Drive
The National Honor Society is collecting gently used coats for their Coat Drive.  A box will be in the lobby throughout the month of December until  December 22. The coats will be donated to the Catholic Harvest Food Pantry.

Toys for Ronald McDonald House
Students are currently collecting Christmas presents for the children who are patients at Hershey Medical Center, in remembrance of Jacob Gurrerri. Parents of the children at Hershey will be able to choose some gifts and have them "delivered" on Christmas Eve.
Chris Gurreri, a YC graduate, is coordinating this toy drive in memory of his brother Jacob, who was five-years-old when he died 11 years ago. The Gurreri family was fortunate enough to stay in the Ronald McDonald House during the three weeks that Jacob was being treated at Hershey Medical Center.

The Ronald McDonald House offers the following gift ideas:
  • Toys
  • Stuffed animals
  • Coloring books and crayons/markers
  • Arts and crafts items
  • Books
  • Board games
  • Children's movies (Disney, Christmas)
  • Action figures
  • Dolls/Barbies
  • Legos
  • Christmas stockings/Stocking stuffers
  • Hats and gloves
  • Blankets
Students are asked to have all toys to their homerooms by the morning of Friday, December 16. Thank you for your generosity this holiday season in helping to make Christmas a little brighter for the children who are in the hospital.
Businesses Giving Back to YC
During this holiday season, there are two places who are giving back to YC for every dollar you spend.

Amazon Smile
If you typically do any of your Christmas shopping online at amazon.com, go to www.smile.amazon.com instead and the Amazon Smile Foundation will donate .5% of eligible AmazonSmile purchases to York Catholic's Student Aid and Endowment Fund.  Simply select York Catholic as the recipient of the donation when making your purchase. AmazonSmile is the same Amazon you know -- same products, same prices, same service -- with an added benefit for your favorite cause.

Giant A+
Giant's A+ School Rewards program offers schools like York Catholic a unique opportunity to receive a percentage of sales made by YC families.  Participation in this program does not deduct personal bonus points from your individual Giant card. In fact, it allows you to leverage those hard earned points to do good for YC!  Please consider registering your bonus card account and be sure to select York Catholic as your beneficiary. If you've already registered your Bonus Card number in this program, thank you! If you have not registered your card, you can do so by visiting  http://giantfoodstores.com/aplus/register-card/ .   If you wish to register and would like assistance, please submit your bonus card number to Alexandra at  [email protected] .

These are two great ways for YC to earn thousands in free money.  Thank you for your support!
In Case You Missed It... 10th Grade Retreat

The Sophomores were on Retreat at Temple Beth Israel and the York Jewish Community Center.  The students learned more about the Holocaust and modern Judaism as an enrichment to their study of Scripture this year in Religion class.  Here the students get an up-close look at the Torah scroll.
