Mark Douglass was a long-time employee at Kardel who passed away in 2009. In addition to supporting individuals at Kardel, Mark was involved in supporting people through volunteering at The Mustard Seed Church. This is something that Mark did for many years and we hope that this is something our fellow employees can help us to continue.
In honour of Mark Douglass, we will be collecting items for the Mustard Seed Food Bank.
The food bank supports a large number of people in our community who appreciate:
Cash donations
Gently used winter coats
New socks and underwear
Food
Baking supplies
Personal care items (soap, shampoo, toilet paper)
Baby supplies
Laundry soap
Tea, coffee, hot chocolate

Home Share News
The holiday season has a way of bringing people together from far and wide and this year was no exception! Kardel hosted a Christmas drop-in for our Home Share Providers on November 30th and with everyone's busy schedule, we needed help to transform the boardroom into a festive wonderland. Our Home Share Coordinator Pat had the "vision" but we needed hands to make it work! One of our Home Share Coordinators, Sue, phoned a couple of friends she knows who live close by and they jumped at the chance to decorate! You see, for Sue's friends - Hassan, Ache and Fatne- this will be their first holiday season in Canada. They arrived as refugees from Sudan in May 2016 and have been eager to drink in all that our beautiful city has to offer. Hassan, Ache and Fatne came to Kardel and were overwhelmed with the warm welcome they received by the Kardel office staff. Then they rolled up their sleeves, took direction from Pat and did a terrific job decorating for the first time! For Hassan, Ache and Fatne, the "Kardel Cares" logo was brought to life and they left the office saying "People at Kardel are soooo nice!"

Inclusion BC is proud to present the International Day of Persons with a Disability Film Festival, Saturday December 3rd at the University of Victoria.
In February we launched some focus groups to come together to discuss rights and what they meant for each person. We gained some valuable insight from meeting with individuals from many of our programs; Home Share, Individual Support Network, Futures Club, and Paskin House.
This poster is the result of those meetings.
