GOOD ORAL HEALTH IS CRITICAL FOR YOUNG CHILDREN
Oral health is about more than healthy teeth and the absence of disease. It is essential to a young child's overall health, well-being, and development. A s the American Academy of Pediatrics says, tooth decay (also called early childhood caries) is the most common lifelong children's disease in the country, and it's five times more common than asthma and seven times more common than allergies in children.   As a result, it is vital that parents work with their child's doctor to start good oral health habits from the first weeks of their baby's life.  For more information, view the resources below:

NEW CHILD CAR SEAT LAW

Effective January 1, 2017, California child passenger safety law will require all children under the age of two to ride in a rear-facing car seat unless the child weighs 40 pounds or more, or is 40 inches  tall or more.

Eating Smart Being Active
San Joaquin County Public Health Services will hold a series of FREE Nutrition Classes from November 1st through December 20, 2016.  No need to register; drop-ins welcome.  Learn to shop, cook, choose, and eat healthy food.  More information  (English)  (Spanish)

Expanded Medi-Cal Coverage
Lowered income requirements, no asset check, no need to be disabled, pregnant, or have children to qualify for Expanded Medi-Cal  health coverage.    

Brush, Book, Bed
Children need a daily routine; a consistent pattern to their day.  The American Academy of Pediatrics tells us that children love routines and  Brush, Book, Bed  is a good evening routine to start with young children today.
