Together, they try to find out who Joe's father is. Just as they succeed, the time comes for Simon to fulfill the destiny he believes in. A situation arises that demands a hero - a very small hero.

FUSE Service Trip to St. Barnabas Mission
Sunday, December 18th, 12:30 p.m.
After church on Sunday the 18th, FUSE junior and senior high will be going to St. Barnabas Mission, part of Episcopal Community Services, to help package meals to give away this month.

ECS St. Barnabas Mission provides safe, decent shelter, healthy meals and supportive services to homeless families headed by a single mother. Located at 6006 W. Girard Avenue, the program's immediate goal is to give families a safe place to stay. The long-term goal is to help mothers and children become self-sufficient. St. Barnabas is critical to ECS' mission of empowering vulnerable individuals and families and directly addresses the agency's long-term outcomes of safety, well-being and self-sufficiency for all clients.
New Refugee Family to Be Hosted by St. Martin's!
As it is with supporting refugees, arrangements have changed. We will no longer be hosting the 13-member Lubanda family from the Congo, and have now opened ourselves to hosting a new family! The Sharif family, Sameer and Majidah along with their son Ayman and daughter Iman, are expected to join us from Syria on  December 14.

Thousands of Syrians, like members of the Sharif family flee their country every day. They often decide to finally escape after seeing their neighborhoods bombed or family members killed. The risks on the journey to the border can be as high as staying: Families walk for miles through the night to avoid being shot at by snipers or being caught by warring parties who will kidnap young men to fight for their cause.

According to the U.N., about 11 million Syrians have been displaced from their homes - enough people to fill roughly 200 Yankee Stadiums. This includes about 4.8 million refugees who have been forced to seek safety in neighboring countries.

We thank everyone who has worked very hard toward the anticipated arrival of the Lubandas. We appreciate that so much is now in place for this new family because of those efforts. Please stay tuned for more information from St. Martin's Refugee Resettlement Committee about how you can help the Sharifs.

Beyond Borders logo
Successful #GivingTuesday with Beyond Borders
On Tuesday, St. Martin's members and friends raised $1,374 to give the gift of freedom & education to girls & boys trapped in slavery through Beyond Borders' #SchoolsNotSlavery campaign. This was a portion of the $26,000+ that Beyond Borders raised in the one-day campaign. Thank you to those who supported this program! You can still contribute to Schools Not Slavery and help to continue to fund  St. Philip and St. Jacques School in Chenkontan on the island of La Gonav, Haiti. Of course, people can still give, as the Schools Not Slavery campaign continues until Dec. 31, and anyone who gives on the St. Martin's page will still get their gift matched at 100% since all gifts in support of a partnership like yours qualify for matching funds from a foundation supporter of Beyond Borders.  Your support helps families find and free children they've sent away, bring them home and enroll them in school, AND keeps so many more children from ever becoming enslaved, by helping communities to organize themselves to stop the flow of children into slavery.
