Rodney and Kendrick Have A
Home for the Holidays

Rodney and Kendrick's grandmother wanted to adopt them, but her new home had only two chairs and little food in the refrigerator. The boys had no beds, no toys, no dinner table and very few clothes until Dallas CASA's Children's Council got involved.

Read more about how Dallas CASA made Rodney and Kendrick's house a home for the holidays on Dallas CASA's  blog.
See Advocate Mollie Milligan in a  New Film About Adoption

A film about an adopted Irish-American artist who confronts her past has a Dallas CASA connection. "Three Days in August" shows what happens as the artist invites both her birth parents and adopted parents to come together for her to paint a family portrait. The role of the artist is played by Mollie Milligan, who is a Dallas CASA volunteer.

The movie will play at select Studio Movie Grill locations beginning Dec. 2. Read more about Mollie and her role as a CASA volunteer on Dallas CASA's blog.
Gifts Deck Dallas CASA's Halls

The first delivery of gifts has arrived! Goldman Sachs delivered gifts for 300 children Tuesday, and the next two weeks have more deliveries every day. The weeks leading up to Christmas are a busy time in Dallas CASA's building. Generous corporations and individuals fill holiday wish lists for every child Dallas CASA serves. Thank to all our supporters and advocates for making Christmas dreams come true for children living in protective care!
NorthPark: Champion of Children

Guest speaker Antwone Fisher told attendees at Dallas CASA's Champion of Children Award dinner that his life might have been different with a CASA volunteer. "When you're a kid, you don't know how to put into words what's happening to you. A CASA could have done that for me," he told the audience.

Dallas CASA presented the 2016 Judge Barefoot Sanders Champion of Children Award to NorthPark Center for its commitment to children in our community.  The dinner, attended by more than 500 guests, raised more than $700,000. Visit My Sweet Charity to read more.
Resource Database for Advocates

Dallas CASA is excited to unveil a new resource database, the result of a partnership with Fidelity Investments.  The Instasource  database will allow advocates to find and access specific resources they need to better serve children living in protective care. For example, if a child needs a play therapist in Mesquite, the advocate can search the database and quickly find one, bringing help and hope to the child more quickly. The project was facilitated by Common Impact , a nonprofit corporation that matches teams of skilled corporate volunteers from leading companies to community nonprofits in need of assistance. Thank you, Fidelity, for this extraordinary gift!
WFAA's Make A Difference Day Benefits Dallas CASA and CPS

Dallas CASA, Child Protective Services and WFAA Channel 8 teamed together on Oct. 22 to make a difference for children living in foster care. For National Make A Difference Day, WFAA chose a service project to clean, repaint and redecorate parent-child visitation rooms at CPS' Stemmons location. "We're so grateful to WFAA-TV for the care and concern they showed Dallas' most vulnerable children as well as honoring the hard work of our local CPS office," said Kathleen LaValle, Dallas CASA executive director and president. "We all have a responsibility and an obligation to find a way to help ensure that children in our community are safe." A special thank you to new Dallas CASA supervisor Jackie Davis as well as advocates Larry Dolan and Skyy Harrison for agreeing to tell their stories on camera.

National Adoption Day Unites 48 Families Forever

Cynthia and Mohammed Bakhashbab thought their family was complete until they met Ella, now two years old. On National Adoption Day Nov. 19, Ella joined the family forever. "She's been in our family so long, and this just seals the deal," Ella's mother Cynthia said through tears.

For CASA volunteer Nikki Sherry, seeing her first case end in a happy adoption is everything she hoped for. "The case was complicated, and everyone went through a lot. But to see Ella with this family where she's always been loved and safe is really what it's all about."

On National Adoption Day this year, 75 children were adopted by 48 families. Judges  Jim Jordan, Ken Molberg and Susan Rankin donated their time to expedite  adoptions for this once-a-year event.
