As a testimony to this success:

> We celebrated as more than 50% of our students were recognized with first quarter honor roll status (including a brother and sister who took top honors with GPAs of 4.59 and 4.58). Read More.
> We inducted the largest number of students in Providence Cristo Rey history into National Honor Society. Read More

The Students, Faculty, and Staff
of Providence Cristo Rey High School

STEM Focus: Science, Technology, Engineering and Math

As part of our experiential learning at Providence Cristo Rey, we provide numerous opportunities for students to explore STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). One opportunity is through our robotics program - winners of the 2013-14 & 2014-15 Vex Tournament and 2015-16 VEX Robotics Innovation Award. Students build, program, and operate a robot in after-school practice sessions and competitions. Due to the popularity of our robotics program, this year we expanded to two teams. After a recent competition, one of the teams won the tournament championship and advanced to state finals in March. The team is coached by  chemistry teacher Anna Sluka educated at the University of Illinois, MIT and USC, and accredited in both secondary chemistry and mathematics. She is joined by her son Justin Sluka a Purdue University graduate who works at our Corporate Work Study Partner Apparatus as a Robtics Process Engineer. Read more here

We offered another opportunity for students to learn about STEM during our annual Science Celebration. Students extracted DNA samples from strawberries, dodged contaminated glitter, and viewed bacteria up close through a microscope.

Student Profile: Meet This Brother and Sister

Brother and sister, Peniel and Lydvine Adjahouisso moved to the United States about a year ago. Having grown up in Benin, a country in West Africa, they were taught French at an early age. Before enrolling in school, the brother and sister studied diligently to learn English as their second language. This year, they enrolled at Providence Cristo Rey High School where Peniel is a junior and Lydvine is a freshman.
"At Providence Cristo Rey, the teachers and staff really care that we learn. At Providence Cristo Rey, people take the time to listen and learn about our culture," said Lydvine.   Read More.

Corporate Work Study Partner Profile:
Doyle & Foutty, PC

Providence Cristo Rey currently has more than 94 Corporate Work Study Partners. Each year, as our student body grows, more corporations partner with us to provide a rich on-the-job professional environment that helps our students thrive. In honor of our 10-year anniversary, we are pleased to recognize companies who have partnered with Providence Cristo Rey for five or more years.
Doyle & Foutty became part of Providence Cristo Rey High School a decade ago when Craig Doyle met with founding principal Sister Jeanne Hagelskamp to learn more about the mission. Since then, the supervisors and staff of Doyle & Foutty have mentored dozens of students and say they "have special memories about every single student."
One student, DeOntae King-Shirley (Class of 2015) was supervised by Senior Paralegal Jennifer Davis for all four years he attended Providence Cristo Rey. "DeOntae developed such an excellent working relationship with our firm that we hired him as a part-time paid college intern during his school breaks," said Davis. Craig D. Doyle, president, said the partnership with Providence Cristo Rey is one way the law firm gives back to the community and provides a positive impact on youth. "The mission of Providence Cristo Rey is such a wonderful story - to give students in under served communities  a chance to realize their college dreams. The exposure they get from working in a corporate environment has proven to be a great asset to them and genuine learning experience that will help them succeed academically and in the workplace. We get great students and a chance to learn from them," said Doyle, who also serves on the Providence Cristo Rey Board of Directors.
