RENT - in concert Tonight!
December 1st and 3rd at 7:30

Today is World AIDS Day
Please join us tonight or Saturday night for a 20th anniversary celebration of the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning musical RENT. Ballard students, alumni and extended theatre family are
lending their talent to the concert in order to finish converting the school theatre lighting to LED and to support the local non-profit Lifelong. 

On Saturday night, overflow parking will be available at US Bank, 6100 15th Ave NW. Please leave the ATM spaces at the bank door open, but you may park in the rest of the spaces on either side of the bank.  Thank you US Bank!

Tickets are available at showtix4u - 
$25 for adults, $20 for senior citizens and students.

Volunteers Needed for RENT tonight
Calling all bakers and water donators

We are looking for volunteers to bake, donate water, staff the bake sale table and sell BPA merchandise during the two RENT concerts.

Pep Band at Basketball Game Schedule Change!

PEP Band is playing  THIS Saturday, Dec 3rd (changed from Dec 2) Call time is 2:30 PM at the Varsity Basketball Games. The first game is the Girls Varsity at 3:00 PM and then the Boys Basketball Varsity at 4:45 PM.  Complete Basketball Season Pep Band schedule available here.
 
Attention parents and student drivers: please pick up/drop off or park on the NW 65 th  St side of the school to give more room in the back school parking lot for the final performance of the benefit concert  RENT.   Your cooperation is appreciated.

Black Band t-shirts are the required uniform for all basketball games. Students will not be allowed to play with the band if they are not wearing their band shirt and they will not receive credit towards their grade for showing up without the band t-shirt. Students are to be in the Band Room ready to play 30 minutes prior to game time.

Mill Creek Jazz Festival Details
The Mill Creek Jazz Festival is on Saturday, December 3rd. Both Jazz Band I and Jazz Band II will be attending this festival. We will meet at BHS at  11 AM to head to the festival at Jackson High School. We should return to BHS around 4:30 PM.  Questions?  Contact Ingrid Riley.

Wind Ensemble NYC Trip Fee due Today
The next Wind Ensemble payment of $500 is due today, December 1 st .  Pay online here.
We will let you know the final amount due once we have our current fundraising money in from coffee, candy, and our online fundraiser. 

Attention Wind Ensemble Students - Online NYC Trip Fundraiser
Wind Ensemble Students please continue to forward th Carnegie Hall link and  pdf  to spread the word about the Online NYC Fundraising Campaign to friends, family, music lovers, and supporters of Ballard High School and Ballard Performing Arts. All donations will be tax-deductible and all proceeds will directly benefit the students and families who are participating. The Online Campaign will end on Dec 11th so don't delay!  Thank you!

Mozart's Requiem Groups and Rehearsal Dates:
Students in the following groups will perform selections from Mozart's Requiem all three nights as the finale of each concert:   Symphonic Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Concert Choir,  Advanced Chorale,  selected Wind Ensemble  and Percussion members. Rehearsals are:
Friday, December 2nd 3:30 - 5:30 PM and  Tuesday,  December 6th 3:30 - 5:30 PM

Call Time is 8:15 PM for all students who are performing ONLY in the Mozart Requiem of each concert.  


Winter Concert Reserved Seating
Available for all Concerts at showtix4u

The three Winter Concerts are often standing room only due to the large number of students participating in the finale. Making a donation of $25, $75 or $100 is a great way to support BPA and ensure that you and your loved ones can slip into your seats at the last minute. All proceeds support BPA. The box office closes at 10 PM the night before each concert so don't delay.  For best views and extra legroom, choose seats in center section, rows L, M, N. Get your tickets today at showtix4u.


Volunteers Needed for Winter Concerts
Can you bake, donate water or lend a hand?

We are looking for 7 people to help out before and after each Winter Concert: staffing the Bake Sale table, selling BPA merchandise, collecting donations and ushering people to their reserved seats. Sign up here.

Bakers: Donations can be sent in with your student the morning of the concert (we have a place to store items) or brought to the bake sale table before the concert  (starting at 6:30) in the PAC lobby.

Ballard Market Receipts: Don't forget to bring in your Ballard Market Receipts and drop them off at the Bake Sale table - BPA receives 1% of all purchases!

Choir News
Men's Ensemble and Women's Chamber Choir 
with SeaChordsmen - SOLD OUT!

Men's Ensemble and Women's Chamber Choir will join The Seattle SeaChordsmen Barbershop Chorus in their holiday concert, "Caroling, Caroling!". The concert will be held at 2:00 PM at Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church. Attention participating students: Call time has changed from noon to 12:45 PM.

Hear Vocal Jazz quartets at the Sorrento Hotel!
On December 10, 14, 16, 17, and 19 - 23, quartets of Ballard Vocal Jazz students will be caroling at the Sorrento Hotel from 5:30-7:30 PM each evening.  Enjoy a beverage in the Fireside Lounge, and come support our choir students! Sorrento Hotel, 900 Madison St., Capitol Hill.
 
Vocal Jazz Annual Caroling Day
On Tuesday, December 13 th , Vocal Jazz will be spreading holiday cheer at local elementary schools, middle schools, retirement homes, and to the Ballard Rotary!  Watch for a schedule of events soon!  Parents who plan to drive will need to fill out volunteer forms here.


Orchestra Spring Trip Change
Northwest Orchestra Festival March 10-12

The Northwest Orchestra Festival in Gresham, OR from March 10-12 will replace the Icicle Creek Spring Trip which was scheduled for March 31- April 2.  Please remove March 31-April 2 from your calendars, and add March 10-12.  All Symphonic and Chamber Orchestra students will be competing in the NW Orchestra Festival on Saturday, March 11.  We will be traveling to Portland, OR on Friday morning, March 10, staying two nights and returning to Seattle on Sunday, March 12.  The weekend will include two performances, a clinic, and priceless memories.  Details TBA soon.
