Greetings from the Executive Director!

The Greater Valley Area Chamber of Commerce is excited about all the wonderful events and activities for the month of December. The Chamber began our Shop Local Campaign November 25th (Black Friday) and the campaign will run through December 16th. We ask that the community help support our local businesses and "Buy Close By!" Shop at any of the participating Chamber member retailers making a purchase of $25.00 or more and receive a Chamber voucher. The voucher may be used one time at any participating Chamber member restaurant. Receive a discount, a free drink, or dessert.
 
Participating Chamber member retailers include Chambley's, Christmas Shoppe at Hood's Pharmacy, Darden Bros. Shoe Store, EAMC-Lanier Gift Shop, Farmers Home Furniture, Hood's Pharmacy, Marvin's, Inc., Merle Norman Cosmetics, Pawn City, Resurrect Antiques, Sewing Machine.com, The Polka Dot Box Boutique and West Point Home.
 
Participating Chamber member restaurants include Johnny's New York Style Pizza, McDonald's, Terri's Mill Village Cafe, Wing Stop, Burger King, Captain D's of Valley, Irish Bred Pub X, Inc. and Jam-N-Java Bakery and Coffee Shop.
 
The Greater Valley Area Chamber of Commerce is also hosting the Inaugural Mill Village Christmas Arts and Crafts Festival on Saturday, December 3rd. In partnership with the 60th Anniversary of the Merry-Go-Round, the Chamber has invited local vendors to participate in the Arts and Crafts Festival. The Mill Village Christmas will be open from 10 a.m. EST to 5 p.m. EST at the Historic Langdale Mill Farmer's Market Pavilion. Local vendors will showcase items for sale. In addition, the Chamber will be selling Christmas Cards in celebration of the Merry-Go-Round. Please stop by and get your Christmas Cards for this year to send to your friends and family. We hope to see you there!

Letter From - Chamber County DHR

We are planning Christmas for approximately 50 Chambers County Children in foster care, and many adults who are without family and live alone. We ask your help in making Christmas brighter.

Ring in Christmas with the Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is kicking off its annual Red Kettle Campaign throughout Christmas season until December 24, at two store locations in the Greater Valley Area. It is a tradition that the Salvation Army partner with civic clubs, churches, business, individuals, to carry out this fundraising project. Kettle volunteers help ring in Christmas spirit in the community. The donations collected in the Kettle will fund the Salvation Army's year-round social service programs and emergency assistance. Groups or individuals interested in ringing bells should please contact

[email protected] or call 826-0073 to choose a time and a location. Volunteers' participation will help give hope and transform lives in Greater Valley Area.

60th Annual Christmas Merry-Go-Round

The Annual Christmas Merry-Go-Round is celebrating its 60th Anniversary. Hours will vary. Please contact the City of Valley for more information at 334-756-5290.


December 3rd - Rock 4 Tots

The Iris h Bred Pub will host Rock 4 Tots for Toys for Tots on December 3rd at 7 p.m. Cover will be $10 or a new unwrapped toy gets you a night with 5 amazing bands and   the awesome feeling of giving a local child a gift on Christmas! 

December 2nd & 3rd - A Point University Christmas

Point University invites you to attend their Christmas Concert on December 2nd at 6p.m. & 8p.m. and December 3rd at 3p.m.. It will be held at Spring Road Christian Church in Lanett, Alabama.

December 4th - Old Fashioned Christmas Open House at the Chambers County Museum

Please join the Chambers County Museum during their Christmas Open House on December 4th from 2:00 pm CST to 4 pm CST at the Old Depot, 1st Avenue S.W., Lafayette, AL. If you have never visited the Chambers County Museum now is the time. 
 
 
The Kiwanis Club of Valley, Alabama, is pleased to announce that Three On A String will be performing a Christmas theme concert on Sunday afternoon, December 4th, at 3 p.m. EST at the Langdale Auditorium. All tickets are reserved and can be ordered by sending a check to the Kiwanis Club Valley, 6301 26th Avenue, Valley, AL 36854. Tickets are $20 for the floor seating and $15 for balcony seating. 
 
December 6th - Christmas Open Car Event
 
Langdale Motor Company invites you to come out Tuesday, December 6th 4:00 - 7:00 EST, for their Christmas Car Event. Fun for the entire family. Located at 4304 20th Ave, Valley AL.
 
 
The Annual Tri-City Christmas Parade will be Thursday, December 8th at 6 p.m. EST. Come enjoy the parade, which starts in West Point, GA, on 3rd Avenue, continues through Lanett and ends up in Valley, AL, along Highway 29.

December 10th - Christmas on the Square
The city of Lafayette invites you to their 2nd Annual Christmas Festival on the Square.

Steve Wheeler, GVACC Board Member

Steve Wheeler is a native of Abanda, AL, in Northern Chambers County graduating from Milltown High School and later from Auburn University.  

He spent 20 years in the radio industry, working in a variety of roles including station manager, on-air personality and sales.  

In 2015, Steve accepted an opportunity to join ALFA Insurance as an agent in LaFayette, AL, where you can visit him for a life/property/auto insurance quote any time.  

Steve has been married to his wife Holly for 24 years and they have two daughters, Libby- a freshman at Duke University & Jacey- a high school junior.
