Pet Photo Contest
Saturday, October 14, 11am - 3pm
|
Show off your cat or dog in the Friends of the Library's Pet Photo Contest! Entries will be accepted from
September 9th
through
October 7th
. Start working on capturing the perfect picture of your dog or cat!
A panel of judges will award prizes in six categories: Most Beautiful Cat, Most Beautiful Dog, Cutest Cat, Cutest Dog, Most Whimsical Cat, and Most Whimsical Dog. Additionally, the audience can vote on a People's Choice award for $1.00 per vote.
The entry fee is $3 per photo or 2 for $5. All entries should be submitted with the
entry form
to the library by
October 7th
.
Anyone age 18 or older may enter to win a cat or a dog raffle basket. Raffle basket tickets will be available for $1 each from
September 9th through
October 14th.
Judging will take place on October 14th from 10am to 11am and prizes will be awarded between 3pm and 3:30pm to the winners in each category.
Between 11am and 3pm a veterinarian, a groomer, a trainer, and the owner of Rodney the therapy dog will be available to answer any questions you have. Cat and dog books will be available for purchase, and kids will have a chance to make a cat mask. Pictures of shelter pets available for adoption will also be on display.

Art Classes for Kids

The Children's Department will host a five week series of art classes for kids ages 7-11 years old.
Registration is required and is for Rutherford residents only. Registration begins

Genealogy Workshops
Wednesday, October 11 & 18, 6pm

We will host a two-part series on searching for your ancestors. Part one will be held on October 11 and will cover Ancestry. The library provides free access to Ancestry's database within the library. Come learn how easy, and how much fun, it is to start researching your family. Part two will be held on October 18 and will cover other genealogy resources that are available to you. Where else can you look? Are there other free databases? What about other genealogy libraries? Come find out!
Registration is suggested.

Memoir Workshop
