Here's How You Can Help With #HurricaneHarvey Relief

The images of the storm damage, flooding and destruction in southeast Texas has many people asking "What can we do to help?"

As a fellow member of The Council of Great City Schools, the School District of Palm Beach County is asking for donations to the Houston Independent School District (HISD) Foundation to provide resources to the students, teachers, staff and schools of this area so greatly affected by Hurricane Harvey. Jupiter HS Dance Team Earns Invitation to Macy's Parade, Needs Community's Help to Get to NYC
The Jupiter High School Warrior Dance Team has been invited to perform in this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, but the once-in-a-lifetime honor comes with a hefty price tag. The team needs to raise $45,000 by October 1 to secure their ticket to The Big Apple.

The team of 13 dancers and two chaperones received their invitation to the parade at the end of the school year and couldn't start fundraising until school was back in session.

The team has created a sponsorship letter asking for any donation big or small to adopt a dancer and help each of them take this trip of a lifetime. Donations can also be made online through School Cash Online. Learn more...

Golf Donation Helps Forest Hill High School Students Swing for Success
Coach Barbara Malone of Forest Hill High School has partnered with the Pinnacle Kids organization to help her students "swing" into action this school year!

Pinnacle Kids, a non-profit organization that serves as a helping hand to public school teachers and schools, donated 20 golf bags filled with clubs to the athletic department at Forest Hill. The equipment will be used by the school's golf team, as well as in physical education classes.

Coach Malone, who attended college on a golf scholarship, wants her students to see how golf can be used as a networking tool as well as a fun hobby.

"You don't want to limit somebody just because of their financial means, because then you're leaving out a sector that could benefit and (it) could be life changing for a student," she shared.

#MakeItCountPBC: Back to Basics Donates 12,000 Uniforms to Elementary School Students

Six thousand students at 45 elementary schools across Palm Beach County are looking sharp this school year, after they each received two new school uniforms thanks to the generosity of Back to Basics, a Wellington-based organization with the mission of giving children the confidence to learn by providing new shirts and shorts at the start of the school year.

The process begins each spring, when founder Beverly Perham and her volunteers reach out to schools - many of which have up to 95 percent of students on free and reduced lunch - and ask them to identify children who could use a fresh set of clothes when the school year starts.

Then, in the heat of the summer, $70,000 worth of uniforms, in 690 boxes on 15 pallets weighing 12,000 pounds, is unloaded at the organization's warehouse. Then volunteers get busy sorting the clothes that will be picked up by each school for distribution. Read more...
