CAPSO Corner - 10/20/17

What an unprecedented couple weeks it has been.  Our thoughts are with all those affected by the devastating fires in Napa and Sonoma Counties.   And we are inspired by the courage and bravery being shown every day by fire fighters, first responders, law enforcement, and just regular folks.
We take comfort in our routines and squeeze our kiddos a little tighter.  Never has community felt more important.  We want to thank  Gail Reimer, Stephanie Shibata and  Kristin Katz for organizing an outstanding Community Picnic last week.  The MPR has never seen so many amazing dance moves.  Please join us again on campus on Halloween as we all come together for a marathon day - the epic, annual Jog-a-Thon in the morning, the Chili Cook Off, class parties, and the Halloween Parade.  And if that isn't enough, the Book Fair will also be open for business.
We want to thank everyone for their support of the Jog-a-Thon.  It is the one and only CAPSO fundraising event of the year.  Funds raised directly support classroom parties, teacher appreciation, parent education opportunities, faculty lunches and more.  Co-chairing the Jog-a-Thon this year are
Libby Werba and  Linda Stoick with help from  Laurie Stein on t-shirts.  We sincerely thank these volunteers for organizing an Armstrong tradition that the kids absolutely love!
Thank you also to  Lena and Simon Parkinson , in addition to our librarian,  Lynne Elfeky , for pulling the Book Fair together.  Funds raised during the Book Fair benefit the Armstrong library.  The Book Fair runs October 25-31.  It's never to early to start holiday shopping!  Please sign up to volunteer  here .
Finally, the Chili Cook-Off is back on October 31 st to provide sustenance during the day-of-all-days at Armstrong. Mr. Lortie is already thinking through his winning recipe this year.  If you are interested in entering chili, please contact Ruby Ruiz
Enjoy the weekend.
Warmly,
Katie Storey & Kim Bottoms
CAPSO Co-Chairs
