of the Month

Changing St. John's

Save your coins when you empty your pockets at night. Collect them in a can or "mite" box and bring them to St. John's. Bring them anytime, and we'll present these "mites" on the first Sunday of the month. Many small efforts could make a big change in our budget and ministry. (We have can wrappers in the narthex to help us remember.)

Stop & Shop Cards
In Stock!
Available Every Sunday

When you buy shopping/gift cards through St. John's, you are making a contribution that does not cost you financially. It may take a little planning.  Order forms are available in the narthex and can be placed in the lockbox at any time.

To make it easy, here's the form for ordering. Print it and bring it on Sunday.

And if you want more choices, here's a complete list. Sue Bremer could order anything on this list.

Dear Friends:

Fall is coming! Sept. 10 th all our congregants will participate in a rededication ceremony for the coming year. This time of year always reminds me of one of our Godly Play core lessons. It is the lesson of The Circle of the Church Year. Here is the lesson's wording:

"Time, time, time. There are all kinds of time. There is a time to get up in the morning. This is a time to go to bed. There is a time to go to school and a time to come home. There is a time to work, and there is a time to play. But what is time?

Some people say that time is in a line, but I wonder what that would look like? Ah. Wait a minute. What is this? (we bring out a gold cord) Time ...Time in a line. This is time in a line. Look at this. Here is the beginning. It is the newest part. It is just being born. It is brand new. Now look (moving hand down the cord) that part that was new is now getting old. I wonder how long time goes. Does it go forever? Could there ever be an ending? It ended. Look at the ending. The beginning that was so new at the beginning now is old. The ending is the new part now. We have a beginning that is like an ending and an ending that is like a beginning.

Do you know what the Church did? They tied the ending that
was like a beginning, and the beginning that was like an ending together, so we would always remember that for every ending there is a beginning and for every beginning there is an ending."

IT IS THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN.....AN ENDING AND A NEW BEGINNING! Please join us on Sunday, September 10 th to rededicate ourselves to actively participate in the life of St. John's and live our lives striving to illuminate the love of God in our daily lives
