Thanksgiving

As we pause the academic year for a week with our families, there is so much for our community to be thankful for this year.

  • We live in a safe part of the world that has extraordinary beauty and world class recreation.
  • Our school is filled with faculty and staff dedicated to the success of our students.
  • Our students are willing to go the distance by challenging themselves in our classes.
  • We have added another five grades this year, and their rate of learning is astounding all of us.
  • Douglas County School District has remained a true partner in our expansion to help meet the needs of our waitlist that will soon top 2,000 families.

Enjoy your time with your precious family around delicious meals and conversation.

We will all return ready for the last few weeks of our fall semester.

Important message!
From our Chief Operation Officer, Robert Hoornstra
An important part of our Transportation Management Plan (TMP) is to implement best traffic practices to mitigate potential impacts on adjacent businesses.

It has come to our attention that our very close neighbors, like the Hilton and D1, are being severely imposed upon by STEM's vehicular traffic during student drop-off and pick-up.

STEM asks that parents refrain from the continued or future use of any adjacent
business roadways and parking lots. We ask that you respect our neighbor's rights to the quiet enjoyment of their business.

STEM Survey
Have you completed it yet?

Dear STEM Parents and Staff,

Just a reminder that we would greatly appreciate if all current families and staff will take a few minutes to complete the survey sent out last week.

It is important for our branding and communication evaluation process.

We want to be certain that each and every person involved with STEM takes the time to complete this survey.

We thank you, in advance, for your time, thoughts and comments.

Every parent, every teacher and every staff member at STEM School is granted membership in STEP. There are no dues to pay or requirements to meet.  STEP's objective is to promote open communication between STEM parents, teachers, and staff, to support STEM's educational needs, and to foster a sense of school-wide community and spirit. We take pride in doing all we can to enhance the learning environment of our children as they are our future.  All of us working together can help make this happen.

Reminder:  If your students are going to be participating in the Veterans Day celebration  this Friday , please ask them to wear red, white and blue!

Happy Thanksgiving!

It has been a wonderful start to the 2016-17 school year!  I hope that each of you has the opportunity to spend some quality time with friends and family over this holiday break.  We have asked teachers to limit any new assignments or homework over this vacation.  Please encourage your students to re-charge (or work on makeup work if necessary)!

Thank you to Ms. Mackenzie Harper and Mrs. Stephanie Hart for their work in coordinating our first ever 6th grade Science Exhibition Night!  This event was held over two nights last week and the turnout was incredible!  Students had an opportunity to show parents and community members what they learned about plate tectonics through stop-motion videos and physical models.   I overheard many great conversations between visitors and scholars!  Thank you Ms. Harper and Mrs. Hart for all of your hard work!

Allies in Diversity Club
Hello parents and students!
You are invited to our Allies in Diversity club's Middle School movie night! The purpose of this movie night is to raise awareness on diversity issues and to help build a caring community here at STEM.

Because some of the movie choices are PG-13, we have provided a link to a trailer for each, a blurb about its subject matter, and a Google Form to give permission for your child to see a film.

Movie night will be on November 29, 2016 from 4-6 p.m. Concessions will be sold.
We are also asking for snack donations that we can use for concessions. We need donations turned in to the front office by Monday, November 28!
