Dear Saint Rose Families,
Today and
tomorrow are your last chances to complete the parent survey for Saint Rose Catholic School. It is very important for as many families as possible to participate in the survey. It will be used by our accreditation and strategic planning steering committee to help direct the school over the next five years. This is your opportunity to provide meaningful comments that will make a direct impact on our school community.
Sincerely,
Bryon Borgelt
Men's Night Out-November 20th
Men's Night Out is a great opportunity for the men of our school and parish to come together in fellowship and great food. Last month I witnessed great community at Donuts for Dads. Dads had a great time catching up with each other. While donuts are great, imagine the same group of people spending time gathered around ribs, chicken, brats, beer and pop and football! Please invite a few friends and come to this year's Men's Night Out in support of our CYO program.
Congratulations to Mrs. Beth Johnson
Our 3rd grade classroom aide, Beth Johnson, accepted a full time teaching position at Rosary Cathedral School. Mrs. Johnson will start at Rosary next week. Saint Rose greatly appreciates her service to our community and wishes her the best of luck in her new position!

Third Grade Field Trip
The third graders visited the wind turbines, the landfill and the recycling center in Bowling Green. They learned about the importance of using renewable resources and what happens to our garbage when we don't recycle. They also were able to see first hand how the recycling gets sorted and learned about what happens to items after they are recycled.

Update to Peanut Free Table Policy
Several students at Saint Rose School have severe and potentially life-threatening allergies to peanuts and nut products. This plan helps to maintain safety in the cafeteria and reduce the risk of exposure to allergens.
Saint Rose School cafeteria does not serve any peanut/tree products. There is a peanut/nut free table in the cafeteria. Students with a nut allergy can sit at this table. Any child who purchases a school lunch may also sit at this table. If a child is packing and would like to sit at that table, that student needs to drop off their lunch to the nurse's office by 9am to be checked by the nurse. It is the student's responsibility to bring their lunch to be checked; if they forget they will not be able to sit at that table that day. If the lunches contain homemade baked goods they will not be allowed at the table. If lunches contain items that are impossible for the nurse to determine if that food may contain nuts that student will not be allowed to sit at that table. The nurse will mark that lunch has been checked and approved with a sticker. Also if the nurse is out sick, no will check lunches in her place and students will need to sit at the regular table.
The peanut/tree free tables and all other tables are washed down with a disinfectant solution after each lunch. If you have any questions, please contact the school nurse.

Safety Update from ODOT
What's going on with SR 25 over I-475?
Everyone knows one of the most basic principles of driving in America: drive on the right side of the road. That's not the case anymore with the opening of Ohio's second diverging diamond interchange (DDI) at SR 25 and I-475 in Perrysburg.
DDIs work by having the non-freeway traffic cross to the opposite side of the bridge. This allows for simple or "free" left and right turns from all directions, only two phases needed means shorter cycle length, and improves capacity by 15-25%.
DDIs increase safety for motorists with fewer conflict points (14 for DDI compared to 26 for conventional interchange) and for pedestrians and bicyclists with safer, shorter crossings. Studies have shown that a DDI reduces crashes between 19% and 46% and wrong way entry to freeway ramps is difficult.
In Perrysburg, the DDI was also a cost-effective interchange since the existing bridge was used.
The DDI opened to one lane in each direction on Monday, September 11, but is scheduled to open completely following paving this month.
On Sunday, October 22, from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m., SR 25 over I-475 will be closed for paving. All ramps will remain open. Northbound detour: southbound I-475; northbound I-75; US 20 (Exit 193); southbound I-75; northbound I-475; SR 25 (Exit 2). Southbound detour: northbound I-475; US 24 (Exit 4B); southbound I-475; SR 25 (Exit 2). There is a back-up date of Sunday, October 29, if weather prohibits paving on October 22.
Respectfully,
Rebecca (Shirling) Dangelo

CONTINUING ADULT FAITH FORMATION
"Too old too soon, too smart too late." That mantra comes to mind every time I
think about how I would have raised my daughters differently had I been more
knowledgeable about my Catholic faith. If I had life to live over again, the one
thing I would invest more time in would be learning and living a more authentic
practice of my Catholic faith as a mother and parent. It is the one investment that
offers eternal rewards." Mary Alice Newnam, St. Rose Parishioner
