Brittney Roberts Weidman

"Southside Virginia Community College was a game changer for me. My time there showed me the power of faculty and staff members who are invested in their students' futures," are the words of Brittney Roberts Weidman, a Brunswick County native.

"I was able to complete all of my general education requirements while
still in high school, enter James Madison University(JMU) as a sophomore, and enjoy more academic freedom as an undergraduate. Because of Southside, I was just as prepared for the challenges of higher education as my JMU peers from areas such as Northern Virginia, D.C., and surrounding states," Weidman said.

Weidman's academic accomplishments include completing Governor's School of Southside Virginia and Brunswick Senior High School in 2003. Then, she was at JMU 2003-2007, with a major in Biology and minor in Environmental Science.

After graduation, she moved to Richmond to work as a Research Assistant in a medical research lab at Medical College of Virginia (now VCU). She later taught at Prince George High School for 7 years.

In 2015, she earned a Master's degree in Leadership from JMU as well as the state license to work as a School Administrator in grades K-12. Last month, she began a new journey as Director of the Upper School and Student Activities at Brunswick Academy.

"My goal is to ensure that all of our students are as prepared  for higher education or the workforce as I was when I left Brunswick County to pursue my dreams" she said.

Weidman has a 5-year-old daughter, Harper, who attends kindergarten at BA and a 3-year-old son, Easton, who attends preschool at The Country Mouse School.

"I've been married to my wonderful husband, Andrew Weidman, since 2010. Above all else I have my parents, Carroll and Gloria Roberts, to thank for always supporting my endeavors. They continue to be my strongest supporters and for that, I will always be thankful," she said.
