A Memorable Sports Moment

Oakland Coliseum, April 20, 1990. Oakland A's vs. Seattle Mariners was a unique baseball moment! I was at this game with Donna, a good friend who was (supposedly) into baseball. As the game progressed, the crowd got quieter with each out, fully knowing we could be sitting in on history. At one point Donna was getting bored because of the lack of action on the part of the A's. I told her the uniqueness of the situation we were in. It was rare for so many batters to be put down in order, I explained.

By the time the consecutive number of outs ended, it was 26 A's batters up and 26 A's batters down. The video tells the rest - CLICK HERE. Rather than a perfect game, we ended up seeing a one-hitter that was not even a shut-out. Gary Radnich, a local TV sports broadcaster then on NBC KRON 4, made it back to the studio in plenty of time to let viewers know he sat in on hearing an A's crowd booing an A's home run! I have not seen anything close to a perfect game since.
