Cyber Risk
October is Cyber Security Awareness Month, and it also happens to coincide with conference season for many design firms.  What better way to celebrate than to brush up on cyber hygiene? The Department of Homeland Security provides helpful tips for those who travel frequently for business.


Contracts
For many design firms, limitation of liability (LOL) clauses are difficult, if not impossible to get into their professional services contracts. However, the benefits of LOL clauses cannot be ignored, and firms should always attempt to include LOL clauses in contracts. Great American Insurance Company provides an update on LOL case law and sample clauses for use in agreements.



Insurance Coverage
One of the most challenging coverage conundrums is the additional insured status.  While commercially available on other coverages lines, professional liability policies will not accommodate this exposure.   Kent Holland, of Construction Risk, LLC provides a comprehensive background on why this coverage is not available, and strategies for talking with Owners who may insist on having it.
