Another Successful Summer at the ABGC!
flowers_thankyou6.jpg
"Thank you each and every one of you for all your love, concern, school help, financial help, and family support you have all shown us once again. Thank you for your understanding and patience especially with my grandson as he struggles with his issues - you have all been such a great team showing him unconditional caring and support and for my granddaughter too."

Just another testimony showing how special 60 Pond Lane is to so many families.
"Great Futures Start HERE"
Thank You Fran & Jack!
Thanks go out Fran & Jack Bowler who recently "retired' after more than 20 years of preparing the weekly bank deposits for the Club.  Jack's connection with the Club began when he became a member at age seven and continues today. Throughout the years he and Fran have been strong advocates  and will continue to take an active role in Club activities.

Thanks Jack & Fran for helping us make Great Futures.
Fall Family Festival FUN
On Friday, October 6th we hosted the Fall Family Festival and Chili Cook Off.  The weather was perfect and everyone had a great time!  We had pumpkin decorating, moon bounces, balloon art, and face painting.  Activities were sponsored in part by TD Bank.  PRIME, Your Trusted Butcher, generously donated hamburgers and hot dogs and Blue Ribbon BBQ provided cornbread and the first prize for the chili cook off.  Dunkin Donuts 369 Mass Ave provided coffee, hot chocolate, and donuts for dessert.   Thank you to all the volunteers who came out to help run this wonderful community event.
Congratulation to Amy Torres Best who won our Arlington Raffle Basket!  Many Arlington businesses generously donated to our raffle basket this year including Art Lounge, Back Bay Fit, Blue Ribbon BBQ, Fusion Taste, Magic Bites, Not Your Average Joe's, Town Barber Shop, Twyrl Pasta Bistro, and there was also a Birthday Party here at the Club donated

Thank you to everyone for their continued support of the Club!

Holiday Help
Although the holidays should be a joyous time of year for family and friends, some of our families experience difficulty and it is up to our Club community to spread some holiday cheer.  Since the Arlington Boys & Girls Club opened its doors in 1937, hundreds of children have experienced a holiday filled with joy and wonder.  This is made possible by the thoughtfulness and generosity of the club community.  Please help us in our efforts by volunteering to shop for a child, purchasing gift cards, or making a donation.  If you would like more information please contact Kim at  kurquhart@abgclub.org .

Back to School Drive
We cannot say thank you enough to all of our donors, both young and old, for our "Back to School" drive. With your help, we were able to send over 80 Club members back to school with brand new supplies! Your generosity was overwhelming and our members loved being able to go shopping at our very own "Staples" store, all free of charge. Also, an extra thank you goes to Salon Marcello who even donated FREE back to school haircuts to three of our members!
Thank You to the "Big Kids"
Again this summer we were very fortunate to have so many AWESOME youth volunteers. This year we had over 125 volunteers (ages 10-17) who volunteered OVER 4,600 HOURS ! Each year we are amazed at their leadership abilities, fun loving personalities, and willingness to always lend a helping hand. Thank you for your hard work this summer! You are great role models to our younger members!
Symmes Corp Grant
The Arlington Boys & Girls Club received a $10,000 grant from the Symmes Medical Use Non Profit Corporation to support the Club's Healthy Eating Program. In conjunction with  support from Arlington Eats and the Food Links program, the Club provides healthy snacks and meals for youth members. The program is designed to provide children with information about nutrition and healthy eating habits that will help them maintain a healthy lifestyle when they are adults. The monies received from the Symmes Corporation allow the Club to assign kitchen managers who oversee food preparation, to purchase equipment and supplies, and to offer education and training for staff and our members and their families.
Play Ball Rec Grant
The Arlington Boys & Girls Club has been selected by Boys & Girls Club of America to receive a Play Ball Rec Grant. This opportunity was made possible through Major League Baseball.

Play Ball is an instructor-led, high quality program that will offer age appropriate fun baseball/softball related activities that will take place weekly during open gym times. This program will allow youth ages 6-18 to increase their overall fitness while learning the fundamental skills of baseball and softball through fun and enriching activities. Play Ball activities will occur weekly throughout the year and include games and contests to keep  members engaged.  This summer we had approximately 100 children playing weekly with over 500 different children taking part throughout the summer months.
Sacco Foundation Grant
The John J. Sacco and Edith L. Sacco Charitable Foundation recently awarded $10,000 to the Arlington Boys & Girls Club. This one year grant was given to support Games Room upgrades and STEM programs at the Club. The funds will allow the Club refurbish the first floor Games Room and purchase furniture and supplies appropriate for our youth members. The STEM program will offer activities and programs designed to develop members' skills in science, technology, engineering and math subjects. Fun & interactive learning activities designed to get kids excited about STEM will be offered for members of all ages throughout the year.
