SMCC ALUM DONATES NAUTICAL CHART
|
Ron Opfer, a 1980 SMCC graduate, donated and installed a custom Great Lakes nautical chart in Sandusky Central Catholic School's middle school Ohio history class. Ron creates the charts as part of his Great Lakes Chart Initiative. The Initiative seeks to teach kids about the often overlooked importance of the Great Lakes as a valuable, but threatened, resource. The charts can be used in a variety of scholastic disciplines including social studies, history, geography, environmental studies, and even science and math. Initially, SCCS teacher Mr. Chip Shope plans to use the charts for his history lessons focusing on the War of 1812, in which the Great Lakes played a significant role. Ron was happy to return to his alma mater to help kids learn more about a subject he is passionate about. More information about the Great Lakes Chart Initiative can be found at greatlakeschartinitiative.org.

IMPORTANT PARENT SURVEY
SCCS is beginning our accreditation plan for the Ohio Catholic School Accrediting Association. This is a six-year cycle in which every Catholic school in the State of Ohio is required to participate and involves seeking feedback from stakeholders, creating goals, and developing a plan of action to attain these goals. Parents, students, and teachers all have a part to play in this important process. As we begin seeking feedback, we are asking all families to
complete the survey by clicking here.
This data will provide us feedback on strengths and weaknesses in our academic and faith-based programs at SCCS. The survey consists of 50 multiple-choice questions and should take less than 15 minutes to complete. Please complete the survey by Thursday, November 2. Thank you in advance for your participation in this important process!
