Future Use of the Palace of Fine Arts

View and Comment on Proposals

CHA Members,

As we celebrate the centennial of the Panama Pacific International Exposition (PPIE) and one of the remaining buildings, the Palace of Fine Arts, the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department looks to obtain a new tenant for the building and preserve this jewel for generations to come.
To find a new tenant, the Department embarked on a two-step process, initiated with a Request for Concept Proposals (RFCP) released last November asking for conceptual proposals for uses to occupy the building. The Department will follow the RFCP with an invite only Request for Proposals (RFP) to the highest scoring respondents. For more information about the overall process, please visit their  RFCP Overview Page.

On May 22, 2015, the Department received seven responses to the RFCP and a number of letters from interested parties.   Click here for information about each proposal along with an opportunity to provide public comments.

On June 23, 2015 the Department held a public meeting at the Palace of Fine Arts and asked each of the seven respondents to provide ten minute presentations of their proposals.  The Department video recorded the meeting and the Q&A session, which can be viewed on their website.
