SMART Cities Workshop, September 12, 2017, hosted by the NIST in Gaithersburg
The vision of a Smart City is to integrate information and communication technology, and the Internet of things, in a secure way to manage a city's assets; to improve the efficiency of services and quality of life. About half of the world's population lives in cities. So how do we create Smart Cities from our legacy cities?
The SMART Cities Workshop will be a team-based effort focusing on developing an integrated planning framework for addressing the application of technology to urban challenges. The six areas of focus are (1) Public Transportation; (2) Public Safety; (3) Health Services; (4) Energy; (5) Water; and (6) Agriculture.

Smart Cities Workshop

Simply put the idea is breakout groups including Municipalities, Fed and Academic experts, and Businesses addressing an issue in one of these 6 areas. In the final session of the workshop, each team will present its smart cities technology framework for their chosen issue. The benefit, besides some Smart City solutions, would be a better understanding the needs, interests, and constraints each group has to confront.   Register Here
