Crossroads Student Ministry
Weekly Newsletter

October 2017
I'm so excited to announce two new ways for our students to gather and grow in God together right here at Crossroads!

This Sunday, October 22nd, we're launching REACH!, which is open to both Middle School and High School students. REACH! is interactive (emphasis on active!), creative, and supportive and offers students a safe and fun space to explore, deepen, and celebrate their relationships with themselves, with each other, and with God. Come and REACH! with us on Sunday from 3:00-4:15PM!

Then on Thursday, November 2nd, our High School age girls are invited to Tea&T, a small group with a huge amount of heart and soul! Tea&T is where girl chat meets God chat. It's a time for sharing laughter, prayer, spiritual practice, and stories in order to uplift, inspire, and strengthen our individual selves and one another. It's bound to be dynamite!

More information is included below as well as on the all new Crossroads Student Ministry website. Please share this information with your family and friends as well, if they have students who may be interested in joining us.

Also, we're currently seeking student volunteers to support the Community Blessing of the Animals on Saturday, October 28th. Whether you're able to lend a hand with setup and decorating or would like to show off your creativity by offering face painting or assisting with the games, I'd love to have you be a part of the event team! Please send me an email if your student/family is interested in helping out.

Have an outstanding week!

With Joy,
Marilyn

REACH! takes place  every Sunday from  3-4:15PM in the  Crossroads Basement. We start REACH!ing this Sunday!!!
You can find out more about REACH!  here .

Tea&T is a  small group for High School girls where we'll explore faith, life, challenges, and triumphs in a safe space together, all while enjoying tea
(or coffee) and snacks!

We'll  encourage one another,  pray for and with one another,  chat about inspiring female figures from the Bible all the way through to today's popular culture, and  offer space to honor our seeming setbacks, our hurts, or anything that weighs on our minds, hearts, and spirits while  celebrating our strengths,
our achievements, and our phenomenal "superpowers".

Tea&T takes place on  alternating Tuesdays (4:45-6PM) and
Thursdays (5:45-7PM)  in Ryan Chapel.
Our first gathering will be Thursday, November 2nd

Crossroads Underground Presents:
Community Blessing of the Animals

Saturday, October 28th, 4-6PM  in the
Crossroads Parking Lot

Bring your family and friends - human, furry, scaly, feathery, or otherwise!
If you're not able to bring your pet in person, we'll happily bless a picture or a favorite toy.

Halloween costumes are welcomed!

We'll be collecting "Love Donations" to support
Island Dog Rescue of Virginia Beach, who are helping to provide food, safe shelter, and medical care and supplies to dogs, cats, horses, and other animals in need in the Virgin Islands.

Have you ever wondered what it is like to move to a foreign country without knowing the language or culture?
Or do you wonder why someone would want to do that in the first place?

CUMC's English as a Second Language (ESL) mission gives you a chance to discover the answers to these questions and more!
Come share the unlimited welcome of our community with the adult ESL students by helping to care for their children while they are in class.

Crossroads' students and their friends are invited to assist in childcare on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7:00-9:00PM throughout the Fall Semester, which begins this Wednesday and Thursday (September 13th & 14th) and runs through November 16 th .

Even serving one evening during the semester would be a blessing to all.
The volunteer hours count toward school club requirements!

If you are interested in serving in this worthwhile mission, please contact
Kathy MacKrell at [email protected] .

Do you play an instrument?
Do you love to sing?
