Issue #175 - October 19, 2017

From the Carpenter's bench:

"Faithfulness in little things is a big thing."                                   - Saint John Chrysostom

A master gave money to three servants to invest. The two who were given the most money turned a profit and were rewarded. The third, who was given less money, turned no profit. So the master said to the servants, "Now, take the money away from him and...throw him outside in the darkness." - Matthew 25-28, 30

A little girl returned home after visiting the family of a classmate who had died suddenly. Her father was annoyed, saying, "Why did you go over there at this time?" The child said, "To console her mother." Her father said, "But what could you do?" "Nothing," said the child, "so I sat in her lap and cried with her."

The stories invite us to ask ourselves, "to what extent do we end up doing next to nothing to advance God's Kingdom because we feel we can do so little?"

Monday of this week, I had the privilege of subbing a senior government class (Scott was amazed at my offer!) The class was talking about the Constitution and I was able to bring in a couple of articles to discuss with the students. It was an engaging discussion and a great experience with the students. It reminded me of why I love educating students (and how sometimes I really miss the classroom). We all have to take advantage of the opportunities we are presented with in life.

Life will pass you by before you know it, so don't be a "Do Nothing!" Always work hard, always treat people with respect, always be advancing, always be faithful, and always LOVE!

Live Jesus in our hearts - Forever

Yours in faith,
Clay Jones

Uncorked 2017
SAVE THE DATE

On November 18, 2017, Saint Joseph Catholic Schools will continue its annual tradition of wine tasting with Uncorked: Purple Rain. Set against our new back drop at HUB 801, this year's wine choices are a tribute to the vineyards found along the rugged coastlines, sparkling streams, jagged mountains, and rolling green valleys of the Pacific Northwest. At precisely 6:30pm, the wines will be uncorked, and the beer tapped, accompanied by scrumptious hors d'oeuvers. We promise you will not go home hungry. And to keep with tradition, we will be offering several enticing silent auction items.

Please look for your invitation in the mail!
