Headwaters Trails Summit - May 10th, 2017 

Headwaters Communities in Action (HCIA) is hosting the Headwaters Trails Summit  at Monora Park in Mono, in partnership with the Ontario Trails Council , and with the support of Dufferin County and the Town of Mono.

 
 
Input requested: Dufferin County economic development survey 

The County of Dufferin is in the process of developing a Strategy to provide a road map on how to best focus its efforts in Economic Development.  This process will result in a contemporary and relevant economic development strategy with a 10-year outlook, and an implementing action plan with a 3-5 year timeframe.

Input is being solicited from businesses, residents and stakeholders.

Nominations open for Orangeville Environmental Sustainability Awards   

On March The Town of Orangeville has opened nominations for the 2017 Environmental Sustainability Awards, sponsored for the ninth year by the Orangeville Sustainability Action Team (OSAT). The Environmental Sustainability Awards are presented by Orangeville Council on an annual basis to recognize those who have made a positive contribution to the environmental health of the community.

On April 3rd, 2017, the Ontario Business Improvement Area Association (OBIAA) and the Toronto Association of Business Improvement Areas (TABIA), who together represent over 300 of Ontario's Business Improvement Areas (BIAs), today announced the release of the Return ON Investment of BIAs Report.

The Workforce Planning Board of Waterloo Wellington Dufferin is offering an introductory labour market information workshop. This hands-on session will let you use the data in meaningful exercises and understand how the data can provide more than one answer with the guidance of an LMI expert.

Horse Day 2017 to expand across the province

The Ontario Equestrian Federation is putting all it's energy into supporting our accredited riding facilities in running their own Horse Day events across the Province on Saturday, June 3, 2017! With over 150 OEF accredited riding facilities across Ontario, our goal is to ensure that there is a Horse Day venue accessible to anyone wishing to attend this fantastic, family event.

Ontario appoints first Chief Investment Officer    

Ontario has appointed Allan O'Dette, a seasoned business executive and entrepreneur, and most recently CEO of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce as the province's first Chief Investment Officer. Mr. O'Dette brings years of private sector experience to the role and will lead the recently established Ontario Investment Office (OIO).

Headwaters Tourism appointed to Board of Directors of the Culinary Tourism Alliance

On April 3rd, 2017, Headwaters Tourism's Executive Director, Michele Harris, was appointed as a Board member of the Culinary Tourism Alliance. As experts in food tourism development, the Culinary Tourism Alliance seeks to ensure that authentic food experiences become a significant economic driver for communities across Ontario, and a primary way for travelers to enrich their experience. 
 
 
 
 
OMAFRA RED funding program - intake #2            
The province, through the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, will be accepting applications for the second intake of the renewed RED program from July 31st to September 29th, 2017. The program is designed to bolsters economic growth in rural and Indigenous communities across Ontario by providing support for projects that allow rural municipalities and partners to diversify and grow their local economies.

Submission deadline (intake #2):  September 29, 2017

Ontario's Greenbelt Fund is currently accepting letters of inquiry for their Local Food Investment Fund in three grant streams: market access, local food literacy, and broader public sector.

The Brampton and Caledon Community Foundation is celebrating Canada's 150th birthday by participating in the Canada 150 granting program through Community Foundations of Canada. A number of groups and businesses have requested information on how they can acquire a horse as part of the multi-award winning Headwaters Parade of Horses

Submissions of interest are currently being accepted for those groups, individuals or businesses within the Headwaters area who are interested in purchasing a horse.   
 
 
Spring has finally arrived and that signals the start of horse season in Headwaters.  Noww is the time to ensure that your equestrian related business and events are listed on the Headwaters Horse Country website. 

Event and business listings are free of charge, so be sure to register now, and profile your equine business on Headwaters Horse Country.
