Young Artists Fall Art Classes

In this class children and their grownup will create their own
masterpieces based on a children's book or famous artist. After reading
a children's book we will produce an art project relevant to the book
and an artist. Art projects may include collage, color mixing, and
painting. This class will help promote visual and verbal literacy while
developing fine motor skills. Bring a smock or used shirt for your child
and be prepared to get your four hands dirty!

Pottery Part 1 is the first of a series of projects that continue and
are different each semester. This course will introduce children to
the wonderful medium of clay. Varied and exciting projects in handbuilding,
including animal sculptures, containers, tiles and more will
be undertaken. Both directed projects and experimentation will be
supported and encouraged as each child's skill evolves. Pieces will be
glazed and fired.

3-5 Cartooning Part 1

Cartooning Part 1 is the first of a series of projects that continue
and are different each semester. Students will work individually and
collaboratively to develop their own characters and stories exploring
a variety of media - including colored pencil, watercolor, markers, pen
and ink and scratchboard. Students will produce a number of works -
including a piece of Pop Art, a comic strip, a comic book/graphic novel,
a short, professional script and more, all while learning about the history
of cartooning, focusing on Cleveland's most influential cartoonists.

6-8 Pottery Wheel Part 1

Pottery Wheel Part 1 is the first of a series of projects that continue
and are different each semester. Students will be introduced to wheel throwing
methods of working with clay. They will learn to create forms
such as bowls and mugs and to decorate and glaze their finished pieces.
Students are encouraged to explore their own ideas on the wheel and
use hand-building techniques to enhance their work.
