Message from your PTSA President
This month is packed with planning opportunities for "Getting Ready for College" that apply to all grades at EHS! I have twin boys that are juniors, so it's a big planning year for us. Stressful and exciting.

The PTSA has already sponsored Mock ACT and SAT tests this month and we'll offer another opportunity in the spring. See our website to sign up now.

We're excited to announce a Parent Ed Night with speaker Anne Holmdahl, on the topic "Navigating the Path to College," on Wednesday, October 19th from 7-8:30 pm in the EHS Theater. She'll explain a common sense approach to tackling the planning path to college. It's sponsored by our LWSD Council and is open to the District. You won't want to miss this! The EHS College Fair is the next day, October 20th, during school hours. Ask your kids about it and help them make plans for which schools they should stop by to see.  Plus, we're working to sponsor a College Essay Writing Seminar in late October. More information to come soon.

Take advantage of these many opportunities during the month of October!

Julie Carper,  Co-President  EHS PTSA

Announcements

Navigating the Road to College - Wednesday, October 19, 7 pm, EHS Theater
Test scores, applications, AP classes, essays, extracurriculars, recommendations, public schools, private schools, in-state or out-of-state...is your head spinning trying to figure out how to help your student make this huge decision? Please join us on Wednesday, October 19, as we welcome Anne Holmdahl, an independent college counselor, former Eastlake parent and past PTSA President, as she describes a common sense approach to helping you and your child navigate the sometimes confusing path to college. Anne will help you and your student understand what colleges are looking for and provide ideas to make that application shine! Click here for more information on Common Sense College Counseling or to contact Anne directly.

Parent Pledge
Homecoming Week is coming soon - have YOU made the Pledge
If your child will be attending any of the Homecoming events, here are some questions you may want to ask...
  • Where is your child going and when will they be home?  (Be sure to ask about any events before and after the game or dance as well.)
  • Will there be supervision? Will drugs or alcohol be present?
  • Have you talked to your child about what to do in a questionable situation?
  • Who will they be with? Do you know how to contact their parents?  Hint - click here for the PTSA directory.
  • Have you signed the EHS PTSA Parent Pledge to help keep our children safe and help them make positive choices? Have the parents of the students your child will be with? Hint - those parents will be highlighted in the PTSA directory.
Click  here  for EHS PTSA Parent Pledge Program details, to sign the Pledge, and to access lots of parent resources. Let's all pledge to support each other as parents, and to support our teens and keep them safe this week and all year long!
