DIA DE LOS MUERTOS & HALLOWEEN PARTY
When:  Thursday, November 2, 6-9pm
Where:  The Joinery, 2533 W. Homer
Wicker Park Bucktown is hosting the 1st Halloween Party sponsored by Alderman Proco Joe Moreno and The 1st Ward First. Since this falls on November 2 (Dia de los Muertos AKA Day of the Dead), this will also honor deceased loved ones from our past with alters and traditions from the holiday. Costumes are suggested for everyone. This is a FREE event for the 1st Ward Community but registeration with Eventbright is required. The first 100 kids will receive a goodey bag. The night will also have live entertainment, games as well as a DJ.

The Wicker Park Bucktown Chamber of Commerce is excited to bring back this pop up music festival for a fifth year in a row in 2017!
This annual event features over 60 musicians performing in storefronts throughout WPB. If you are interested in being a host venue, please sign up here.


COMMUNITY TRICK OR TREAT
We are co-hosting the first annual West Town, Wicker Park Bucktown Trick or Treat on Tuesday October 31st from 3:00-6:00pm. It's FREE for you to be listed on the digital trick or treat map, all you have to do is supply the Candy. Check out the map here

We will be passing out "Trick or Treat Here" posters this week, so please let us know if you'd like to participate. This is a great way to interact with new community members and provide a safe space for children to enjoy a holiday favorite.

West Town & Wicker Park, Bucktown Chamber Members and their families are invited to enjoy a special performance of Akeelah and the Bee at Adventure Stage Chicago on Thursday, November 9. New Neighborhood SAFETY & SECURITY Rebate Programs
After consulting with SSA #33 taxpayers and neighborhood stakeholders over the past six months, as well as engaging a public quality-of-life consultant ( Responsible Hospitality Institute President & Founder Jim Peters), WPB SSA #33 has updated its previous graffiti abatement rebate program to include a range of safety-related rebates
  • Security cameras 
  • Exterior lighting 
  • Anti-smash glass film 
  • Window repair 
  • Graffiti removal 
  • Private security

  • The new rebates are for eligible properties within the boundaries of WPB SSA #33, and will reimburse 50 percent of the cost of one or more of these neighborhood safety measures, up to $1,000 per measure annually, per location. Private security reimbursements are now eligible for 75% UP TO $5,000 annually, per location.

Did you know the Wicker Park Farmers Market now offers composting to all of the Market vendors? Wastenot hauls away all food waste generated by the Farmers Market farmers, bakers, and prepared food purveyors and gets turned back into a healthy soil product. Additionally, Wastenot can sign you up for their residential pick-up service at a very reasonable rate!

If so, you could be eligible to join the WPB SSA #33 Commission, a group of volunteer stake-holders who  approve the expenditures of the SSA #33 budget.
