See the sights of Headwaters by Bike

Excitement is building for the third annual Tour de Headwaters on September 16, 2017!

Whether you're local to our beautiful hills of headwaters or a weekend visitor, Headwaters Health Care Foundation invites you to "Pedal for a Purpose" on this third annual ride presented by Brannon Steel.

Tour de Headwaters has not only been a huge success in raising money for much-needed hospital equipment, but it has also drawn overwhelming community support from residents, visitors and local businesses. The response has been incredible," says Tim Peters, Event Chair. "We hope to exceed 250 riders this year and a fundraising goal of $50,000 ."

These fundraising dollars are critical for Headwaters Health Care Centre. Says Nicole Hand, Annual Giving Manager and event lead, "The list of needs continues to grow and it's not widely known that the government does not pay for medical equipment. Important annual purchases are made through the donations of generous people who live and play in our community."

Registered participants pay a fee to participate, but also collect pledges from friends and family. In return, riders will be treated to pre-event "fuel-up" snacks, refreshing rest stop treats along each of the routes, prizes as well as a post-ride BBQ at Caledon Hills Cycling shop in Inglewood.

The cost to participate is $50 for adults and $25 for youth under 17. For more information, to become a sponsor or to register today, please visit hhcfoundation.com or call 5 19.941.2702 ext. 2303.

Dufferin-Farm-Tour

2017 Dufferin Town & Country Farm Tour

On Saturday September 30, 2017, 9am to 4pm, a select few Dufferin farms open their doors for the public to see "farming unfiltered". This year's Dufferin Town and Country Farm Tour will take place in beautiful North-East Dufferin (Mulmur and east Melancthon).

For 17 years Dufferin farmers have generously hosted a day of education and fun at their farms. Rain or shine it's always a great day for the family to meet local farmers on their own farms.

"This is one of my favourite days of the year. I always learn so much about our local farmers and come away with such respect and appreciation for them." ~ a 2016 Farm Tour visitor.

This year's hosts include farms specializing in community supported agriculture, potatoes (organic, specialty and table), highland cattle, fruits and vegetables, native plants and milk production (Holstein dairy). Visitors will see agricultural production in action, participate in educational activities, talk with farmers and learn how food is grown or raised, harvested and marketed.

The tour is self-guided and is free with a donation to local food banks. There will be additional activities at each farm, including the opportunity to purchase fresh produce, so bring cash and a cooler.

Grand-Spirits

Hidden in Grand Valley...

After waiting more than thirty years, one of the most remarkable buildings in Headwaters is re-opening, just in time for Fall visitor travel throughout our region. This time however, Grand Valley's famed old two story schoolhouse on Main Street has been lovingly restored and transformed into a modern Craft Distillery with an old-fashioned SpeakEasy Bar and Restaurant - including a secluded Cabaret Room. The result is something magical for grown-ups.

GRAND SPIRITS Distillery is the first of its kind in Ontario in over a century, offering a unique Dining and Distilling experience. Guests from around the community or around the globe will learn how locally-grown barley is transformed into Vodka, Gin, Whisky, Absinthe and more in the attraction's one of a kind still equipment powered by the Wind. They'll be able to check out the spirits in the Tasting Room then slide into a large hidden cocktail bar to compare them with skillfully handmade drinks paired with a sophisticated menu drawn from immediately fresh and local ingredients.

Special event booking and weekly entertainment will be hosted in the Cabaret Room, helping to make GRAND SPIRITS Distillery a secret new destination for parties and planners. Visit GrandSpirits.com to get in and to get your password to find out more. #SecretlyAtTheSchoolhouse
