Announcements
A Message from Co-President Deb Knaus
Happy fall and welcome to the second quarter! During the first quarter, your Eastlake High School PTSA has been working very hard on your behalf. We have been able to provide you with a Parent Education seminar on Navigating the Road to College and the following week, in conjunction with LW Schools Foundation, we offered a FREE college essay writing workshop. Both events were very well attended and we hope to be able to bring these programs back to you next year. Secondly, we received the "You Rock Award" from LWPTSA Council for our outstanding communications, our use
of One Drive for PTSA administration, and PTSA branding. We also executed a wildly successful community event with our 23rd annual Holiday Bazaar in which a record high of 2,200 people attended this event! We could not have done it without the strong leadership of Gigi Predmore, Jill Corriveau, and Traci DiStacio and the many student and adult volunteers. Thank you, it takes a village! Finally, this week thanks to your generous donations, we were able to approve grants totaling
over $20,000
for the students and staff at Eastlake. We have money going into our classrooms to benefit virtually
every
Eastlake student! Click HERE for individual grant details. Again, thank you. We could not do it without YOUR SUPPORT!

Share Your Holiday Favorites
Our next EHS PTSA staff appreciation lunch is on Wednesday, November 16. The theme is holiday favorites and we welcome food from all cultures. If you would like to help spoil our wonderful teachers and staff then please sign up via this
link or contact
Sarah Frankum. Donation drop by 11 am in the Eastlake staff lounge or in the balcony above the commons. We would love to have you celebrate with us if you would like to help setup, serve, or cleanup. This is a wonderful and easy way to get to know the EHS teachers and staff. No need to RSVP, just come join us. We will also sign community service hours if your student would like to make something and/or help serve and cleanup. Not a cook? Store bought items or monetary donations are great!
Wishing everyone happy and safe holidays! -

Coach Bartel Goes Live
KIRO radio
3-7 PM shift did their radio show from French Field, where Eastlake played Kentwood for Round 1 of the playoffs. The local sportscasters had both coaches on the show for interviews.
Coach Bartel's comments can be heard in the link below. We share this with you, our Eastlake family, because it's about investing in and loving high school students and building community. He represented Eastlake so well and was able to share our school culture and mission with greater Seattle! His interview begins at the 33 minute mark. Click here to give a listen and be proud to be part of the Pack!
A Happier Sammamish by EHS Leadership
On Saturday, December 3, at the Sammamish Teen Center, we will be
hosting an event that attempts to answer these questions. Throughout
the night, we will be showing the movie Happy - a film that will take
us around the world to find out happiness is in other cultures and
societies. After the movie, student speakers will reveal to the
audience what happiness is to them. A separate panel of community
leaders will also help debrief the movie and give their opinion on
what happiness truly is. This event is being planned and executed by
Eastlake High School youth!
This incredible night won't only bring Sammamish together in a unique way
never done before, but at the same time will support the work of
Hopefest 2017. Next year's Hope Festival will be the biggest and most
powerful yet; serving over 1,500 in-need Eastside individuals with
important supplies such as clothes, food, hygiene supplies, books, and
much more. Simply said: this powerful day of service will inspire a
newfound sense of hope to all who attend the festival next year. All
donations from Creating a Happier Sammamish will help make Hopefest
2017
possible. Click here for more information.
Habitat for Humanity is very excited about building in the Eastside
again. The groundwork has just begun, fundraising is ongoing, and after the New Year we will be up and running with volunteer groups!
If you would like to get involved, please reach out to our Director of Faith Relations, Andy Varyu, at 206-866-7599 or
andy.varyu@habitatskc.org
.
There are many ways to get involved, from group build events and food donations, to fundraising for the project individually or as part of a coalition of faith partners.
