Peace---St. Francis of Assisi---Volunteer Week A
|
|
Dear St. Isidore Families,
Support, love and compassion were evident on campus last week as our community rallied around those affected by the horrible fires in Napa and its surrounding cities. As a school, we raised over $3,500 and over $1,000 in gift cards. We were able to donate our proceeds to a charity that matched our efforts! We continue to pray and support those in need. Please see the Red Ribbon Week activity schedule for our next opportunity to support these victims.
Progress Reports:
Progress reports will be sent home today for grades TK-3, while fourth grade and up will receive a PowerSchool signoff sheet indicating that you have reviewed your child’s grades on PowerSchool. Second grade and above will also receive your child’s initial Star test. This test was taken during the first few weeks of school and is taken several times throughout the year. Teachers use the information to guide instruction. Please remember this is a snapshot and may not be the best indicator of your child’s ability. Seventh and eighth grades students will also receive the results of the IOWA test. This is used for eligibility for the John Hopkins Student Talent search, which allows students the chance to take the PSAT.
Spread the News:
Word of Mouth is the number one way that prospective parents find out about our AMAZING school! Please help us spread the word to neighbors and friends about our upcoming TK-8 Information Meeting this Friday, October 20th, at 9:30am! We can’t wait to show new families how special St. Isidore School is. If they are not able to attend, please have them call the school office to schedule a tour with Jill Tripaldi, our admissions director.
Disaster Drill
:
Our Bi-Annual Emergency Disaster Drill will take place Wednesday, October 25th, at 12:45pm.
Remember photo ID is required and students will only be released to those authorized on their emergency forms. No changes will be made to the Emergency Forms on the day of the drill.
- 12:45pm T – Z
- 1:15pm N – S
- 1:45pm H – M
- 2:15pm A – G
All students not picked up by 2:45 will be escorted to Kids Konnection.
Please see the Red Ribbon Week section below for the attire required for our drill.
Challenge Success Update:
Childhood stress has increased significantly in the past few decades. It is our jobs as educators and parents to help children learn to identify and cope with the stress found in today’s fast-moving world. Navigating stress and its nuances requires ongoing communication between parents, educators, and students to understand each situation and make the best possible decisions that support balance, growth, and overall well-being for kids.
This focus is at the core of the Challenge Success mission: helping schools, families, and communities reduce
unhealthy
forms of stress for students, and promoting positive practices and research-based support strategies. When we work together, our children and teens do more than cope – they thrive.
Halloween Fun:
The excitement of Halloween is in the air! Please take into consideration the ages of our student body. Costumes should not be too scary, gross, or violent. It is common for children to decide on a group costume or costume theme, and it is important that they are inclusive to all who would like to join. Please join us for our school Halloween parade in the courtyard, at 11:15am – dismissal is at 12:00pm. There will be no afternoon Kids Konnection. The following day, November 1st, school will start at 9:00am. Kids Konnection will be available at 7:00am. Students will attend mass and all schedules will be adjusted appropriately.
Student Safety:
Student Safety is always a top priority at SIS. We encourage parents to talk to their students about safe practices while walking to and from school:
- Do not talk to strangers, even if they know your name.
- Always walk directly to and from school using the same path every day.
- Always walk or ride your bike with a group of friends.
- Run directly to school or home if you are approached by a stranger.
- Immediately notify a school official or parent.
Sincerely,
Maria Ward, Principal
St. Isidore School

Scrip News...
We are more than halfway through October and just starting to feel the change of seasons and the beginning of the holidays.
Decorating your home for the holidays can be fun and uplifting when you shop for the latest trends at Pottery Barn, Williams-Sonoma, Crate & Barrel, and Home Goods. While you are shifting gears into Autumn, pack your summer treasures away in those smart containers from The Container Store.
Thank you St. Isidore families for your amazing response to those in need. All the Scrip purchases made for the North Bay Fire Victims have been combined with last week's free-dress fundraiser. We will continue to collect donations for the fire victims this week so it's not too late.
Also, did you know that we collect donations for the Soup Kitchen on the Scrip form? Since the holidays are coming, please consider giving to the Soup Kitchen. A small donation of $5 added to your Scrip order can help feed 1000 at the Contra Costa Loaves and Fishes Kitchens.
Thank you for all your Support!!!
