It's back-to-school time! Come enjoy another open house with us before the school bell rings  this Saturday.   Free admission  -- no reservations required. Only 2 more open houses after this August event.

Coloradoan Story: Historic Costume Collection

Our clothing collection was featured in the
Coloradoan online in video and written format on July 27th, and in print on Aug. 8th. We have already received calls from community members interested in donating additional pieces. We continue to look for additional storage space (climate and humidity-controlled) as our collection expands.

Texas Professor visits Avery House, PLF for Costume Collection
Expert examined pieces to create patterns, re-create costumes

Texas profess of costume design examines a piece from our historic costume collection
Associate Professor of Costume Design Anne Medlock of West Texas A&M was on-site at the Avery House recently examining samples from Poudre Landmarks Foundation's historic costume collection. She was here on a grant from the Center for the Study of the American West to study clothing pieces from the 1900's in order to recreate patterns and costumes for the upcoming theater production A Flea in Her Ear at West Texas A&M showing February 8-17, 2018.

     

Event Recap: Old-Fashioned 4th of July
By the numbers...

We had a great turn-out on 4th of July at the Avery House this year.
  • ~3000 visitors (estimated)
  • 600+ Avery House visitors -- a one-day record for us!
  • 4 food trucks
  • 1 awesome bluegrass band
