From the Desk of Ellen Knippel, Principal

Dear Parents,
Well, we are off and running into the new school year! We have only had a couple days but the students seem energized and ready for the year! Be sure to contact your child's teacher with any concerns you have right away. Please don't wait to see if a concern "works itself out". Communication is essential - especially with new ways of doing things!

SPECIAL NOTE:  We have one important change this year - due to severe allergy concerns, our classrooms are now completely Nut Free. Please see the School News section for details.

On Thursday we will have our Parent Back-to- School information night. PLEASE plan on at least one parent attending. Teachers will be here to give you important information on their class for the year ahead. It is a great time to get to know your child's teacher a little better along with expectations, etc.

Along those same lines, never hesitate to call ME with concerns or questions. My door is always open and my communication with parents is also essential. If you aren't certain about an event or policy, don't hesitate to ask!

Blessings on a great school year!

Parent Back-to-School Night, August 31st
3K-5th grades will have three 15 minute sessions: 5:30pm, 5:50pm and/or 6:10pm. Parents need to attend 1 session per child. So, if you have only one child in 3K-5th, you will only need to attend the 6:10pm session. General meeting for ALL parents (3K-8th Gr) will begin at 6:30pm. The general meeting will end at 7:15pm. At this time the 3K-5th grade families are free to leave. Middle school families will then have 3 sessions to meet with teachers. (Evening will end at 7:50pm)

ALL New Volunteers - Safe Environment Training
Adults volunteering in any capacity with children 17 and under are required by the Archdiocese to take the Safe Environment class. This includes coaches, field trip chaperones, lunchroom volunteers, etc!  The class can be taken at any parish (keep certificate!) and only needs to be taken once. There are two upcoming sessions here at St. Anthony (Fellowship Hall/church basement).
Wednesday, September 6 from 6-9pm
Thursday, September 7 from 9am-12noon

How to Make an End of Day Change
If your child needs to change their usual end of day routine (stay after school, use a different bus, or switch to car rider), please use the  online form  found on our website. Be sure to check for the message "Thank you for submitting your end of day changes! A notice has been sent to the school office."  This will be displayed in green after you hit Submit. If you don't see this message, your changes have not been received by the school office. Or, you can print an  End of Day Change Form  and send it in to the school office.
All end of day changes must be made by 1:00pm (or 10:15am on early release days).  If it is after 1:00pm (or 10:15am on early release days), you must call the school office with your changes.

Busing to a different stop/friend's house?
If your child is taking the bus with someone else or if they are getting off at a different stop, this hard copy notice must be given to the bus driver.  Please either use the printable  End of Day Form  or fill out our  Temporary Bus Pass   when making these kinds of changes.

Car Rider
1. Please follow the "snaking through the parking lot" both AM and PM to prevent back ups onto Prospect. There are TWO aisles to use facing South! Please use both!
2. ALWAYS use the crosswalk for everyone's safety!
3. If you MUST walk your child in these first few days park in the lot - NOT the car rider line
4. Remind your children (if there is more than one) to stand together waiting for you in the PM car line.

Dress Code, Mission and Spirit Wear
Shorts are NOT allowed on Mass days. NO light up shoes (if purchased, please remove the battery). NO sandals (tennis shoes are best and safest). The green "Growing in God's Love" shirts should be worn WITH uniform bottoms this year on all designated Mission Wear days. Spirit wear (clothing promoting St. Anthony/Mustangs) can be worn on designated Spirit wear days with non-uniform bottoms.

Health Matters
Hand in any health forms ASAP.

Change of address or Phone
Please notify the office whenever there is a change.

Mandatory - Return Volunteer Forms
If you have not yet completed the Volunteer Form please do so and turn into the school office asap. There are many Volunteer Opportunites and EACH school family is required to volunteer as much time as they are able per the "Committment to School" parents were asked to sign. Questions? Contact Flo Prospero or call her at 414-640-9093. She can help you find a good fit!

Mandatory - Parent/Student Signature Form
Please return hardy copy or submit online form if you have yet to do so.

SNACKS - Nut Free Classrooms Now!!
Classrooms are now peanut/tree nut free.  ALL snacks need to be nut free and cannot be made in a facility that processes peanuts or tree nuts . We recommend fresh fruits and veggies. We have peanut free table(s) in the lunchroom for students (and their friends) with allergies.

No Edible Birthday Treats
We have moved to a "no food treat" policy for birthdays this year. Teachers are discussing alternatives with their students. We will continue to celebrate birthdays in the classroom. Suggestions for alternatives: pencils, erasers or other trinkets, a game or equipment for the classroom (ask your child's teacher what is needed) donated in your child's name, extra recess (if this is a student request) etc. Be creative.  Snacks, cupcakes, donuts etc. that are brought to school will regretfully be sent home.

Mass Greeters Gr 5K-8
Volunteers from each class will provide hospitality as Mass greeters this school year. First up are Grades 4 and 5 who will greet together at the September 23rd/24th Masses. Signup here.

MAP Testing (5K-8th Gr), Sept 5th-8th

Please make sure students come to school well-rested and well-fed so they can perform at their best. The test scores help our teachers assess each student's learning path. What is MAP Testing?
