Eagles in Action
Sixth Grade Eagles in Action Project

During the month of October, sixth graders are collecting stocking stuffers for service members in harm’s way during Christmas. Last year, students brought enough individual stocking stuffers to chapel to fill three boxes. This year, our sewing club members have created stockings that need filling.  Please bring the items listed below to school. Stockings will be distributed to each classroom for filling. When one is filled, bring it to chapel as you would your regular chapel donations. Sixth graders will bring your offerings and donations to Operation Support Our Troops (OSOT) – America, Inc. on October 26, where they will volunteer their time stuffing more stockings for United States Service Members. Items needed most include the following:

* Fruit Snacks / Fruit Rollups (Individual Packs)
*Chocolate Candy Bars / Tootsie Rolls
*Trail Mix (Individual Packs)
*Granola Bars / Rice Krispie Bars
Individual Packs of Cookies
*Starlight Mints, Lifesavers Candies, and Gum
*Licorice / Twizzlers (Individually Wrapped)
*Unbreakable handmade Christmas Ornaments
*Hot Chocolate Packets
*Mechanical Pencils / Pens

Thank you for your support!

Trip Program
Whether you are starting your fall shopping, or updating your wardrobes for the new season, don’t forget to order your TRIP cards! If you are planning on dining out, or just treating yourself, start your shopping with TRIP cards. There are many choices for local grocery stores, dining establishments and department stores.
Why not receive a tuition reimbursement and take care of your household shopping needs and school supplies at the same time? Remember to check the website www.shopwithscrip.com for any special promotions, retailers such as Office Max/Depot, Staples, Mariano’s, Whole Foods, Jewel, or your favorite retailers may be running.
Great Lakes Scrip Center offers PrestoPay, a method we are currently enrolling school families and others interested in supporting the AH Miller Scholarship Program here at St Johns. The steps to get setup for PrestoPay to get scrips sent to your device for immediate use or to a computer to print out bar codes to be used at restaurants, retailers or other providers are on the website. Also on the website are GLSC videos and more information about the process.
To learn more, pick up information in the school office or church narthex wall file folders or ask us:
Amy Buonassisi (630-290-0268) and Sandra Pauley (708-362-2197). It is completely free (you buy a $25 gift card or $100 gift card for the retailer of your choice and receive that gift card) AND easy! You can take advantage of this program for your own family or you can donate it for another family - - it’s simple.

We will be placing TRIP orders for your shopping needs on these upcoming dates: October 23 & 30. Have your order in the green order boxes, in either the school office or church narthex by the Sunday prior to the order date to participate.

Restaurant Night at Chipotle –
Help Support the AR Program at St. John’s!

Chipotle has replaced the McDonald’s Night/Raffle for this year, however, the purpose is still to help fund the Accelerated Reader (AR) Program. AR costs just under $2500, and the PTO has committed to paying for this program so that the cost will not be passed along to our SJL families.

The event takes place on Wednesday, October 25 th , from 4-8pm. You will need to present the flier, show it on your phone, or tell the cashier that you are supporting St. John’s when you order. St. John’s will earn 50% of sales for those who visit the Chipotle in La Grange at 40 N La Grange Road (corner of Ogden and La Grange) during those indicated hours.
