ANNOUNCEMENT OF NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF EASTERN BERGEN COUNTY BOARD OF REALTORS®, INC.

Welcome our new CEO Jorge Ledesma

In the beginning of 2017, the Board of Directors appointed a CEO Search Committee who established a job description and a list of responsibilities expected of a new CEO. The Search Committee began the process of speaking with various consultants who proposed to assist with the search and locate a suitable person for the job. During this time, the Search Committee noticed the job that Jorge Ledesma was performing in the interim and considered him for the permanent position. Further investigation, which included interviews internally and with an outside expert, led them to recommend him to the Board of Directors for the position.
The Eastern Bergen County Board of Realtors®, Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Jorge Ledesma as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective August 1, 2017.

Home Prices Jump 6.2 Percent in Second Quarter; Eclipse 2016 High

The headstrong supply and demand imbalances in much of the country slightly tempered the pace of sales and caused home prices to maintain their robust growth in the second quarter, according to the latest quarterly report by the National Association of Realtors®. The national median existing single-family home price in the second quarter was $255,600, which is up 6.2 percent from the second quarter of 2016

GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES

A History of the World Via Real Estate

The more I learn about real estate, the more evident it becomes that the industry touches everything. That's definitely the feeling I got while reading Placemakers: Emperors, Kings, Entrepreneurs: A Brief History of Real Estate Development (Figure 1 Publishing Inc., 2017), by Herb Auerbach with Ira Nadel. It's sort of a cross between a coffee table book and a truncated textbook about the history of real estate development from ancient times to today.

The Best Negotiating Techniques to Save a Deal

If you've been in the business for a while, chances are you've lost deals during the negotiation phase. What's worse is that you've likely lost clients from negotiations gone wrong. Sadly, agents themselves are often one of the biggest killers of negotiations. I've seen countless deals fall apart because the two agents involved couldn't get along. Many agents take the attitude that they know what's best for their client, and become very adversarial.

TECH TIPS
Creating PDF Files on Your Phone

Your phone's app store should have several utilities for converting documents and pages into PDF files, and some are free. Adobe, which created the format back in the early 1990s, has a version of its Acrobat Reader app for Android, iOS and Windows phones, but the PDF conversion tool requires a monthly subscription fee of about $10. Recent versions of Android and iOS, however, have their own PDF-making tools built right in.
