New Website and Mass Notification System
Over the summer, HSD implemented a new website and mass notification system included in the Blackboard suite of products. Three of the main reasons we selected Blackboard were because it allows us to: 1) standardize the look, feel and navigation of all of our sites; 2) message quickly and effectively across a variety of platforms; and 3) integrate with our existing mobile app. If you have not yet downloaded the app, please do so today! It's free, will allow you to set your message notification preferences quickly and easily in one place, and will deliver push notifications from your child's school when important issues arise.

Hillsboro School District 2017 Bond
HSD is placing a $408 million capital construction bond on the November 2017 ballot that would: prioritize safety and security; update and repair aging school buildings; address overcrowding while planning for future growth; and provide a modern education for students, all while renewing the existing tax rate of $2.24 per $1000 of assessed value and not increasing the current property tax rate. We will be sharing much more about the bond over the coming weeks, but please visit our website, www.Hillsboro-Bond.org, to learn more.

As is always the case, Hillsboro schools were well cared-for by local businesses, volunteers, community groups and donors this summer. More than 400 volunteers from Intel Oregon's Device Development Group provided more than 2,800 person-hours of labor to McKinney and Quatama Elementary Schools, Evergreen Middle School and Glencoe High School on Wednesday, July 26. And more than 60 volunteers from the Barnhart branch of Wells Fargo Bank volunteered at Reedville Elementary School over two days in August, and brought with them a $3,500 check for the school! Add to that backpack and supply donations, and we owe our community a huge debt of gratitude! Thank you!
