Black Grad Series
 
Are you graduating this year? If so, join us for the Black Grad Series!
 
 Join the Black Resource Center throughout your final year of  undergrad as we host a series of workshops/programs preparing you for life after college.
 
If you are planning to participate in Black Graduation 2017, then you must come to the Black Grad Series. Attendance at Black Grad Series is a prerequisite.
 
 
The first meeting will be on Tuesday.

De-Stress Express
  
Instead of getting distracted by your phones while studying for finals, stop by the Black Resource Center and relieve your stress with Mandala coloring books, word searches, and crossword puzzles!

Self care and meditation are essential skills for us during finals season, so come out and practice yoga and self care!

When: Thursday, December 1, 2016

Sweet and Salty Study Jam

Looking for a place to study for finals? Stop by the Black Resource Center and enjoy a few sweet and salty treats while you study and get prepared for your finals!

CAPS Office Hours

CAPS (Counseling and Psychological Services) professionals, Cat Thompson and Kelley Adams, are at the BRC every week to talk to students on campus. So come by to ask about CAPS services or just to say hi!

Kelley Adams office hours: Every Thursday 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

AIDS Day Cookie Decorating



On Monday, November 28th of Week 10, join us at The Zone from 1:00-2:00pm to decorate your own delicious cookie and learn about an important cause! Decorate your own red ribbon cookie in honor of World AIDS Day and learn about the variety of on-campus events taking place throughout the week to commemorate this global awareness event.

Taught by AASM's faculty director, Dr. Dennis Childs, this course will cover the experiences of peoples of African descent in the US and broader African Diaspora from the vantage points of cultural production, political practice, socio-economic conditions, and the overall struggle for social justice along intersecting lines of race, gender, and class.

The popular pups are back! The Zone will be bringing nearly two dozen certified therapy dogs to campus to help you de-stress during finals! Studies show that animal therapy has many health benefits, including stress reduction. ETHN 198: The Politics of Desirability
 

Are you interested in getting involved or learning more about social justice and activism? Would you like to take a fun, student-centered course next quarter? You should enroll in the SPACES Winter Practicum, ETHN 198: The Politics of Desirability! We will have critical discussions about the structural impact of desirability. What does it means to mark certain bodies as desirable and others as undesirable? This student facilitated course includes a field trip and snacks!

The practicum begins on Monday, January 9th, 2017 from 
11:00 am - 12:20 pm at the Green Table Room (Price center)

Become an Engineering Overnight Program Host and help mentor future engineering students by housing them and gaining meaningful leadership experience! EOP occurs April 6th to 8th, 2017. This is an invitation-only program for select UCSD-admitted high school seniors.

The San Diego Foundations Common Scholarship


 
 Apply to scholarships that are  largely geared toward African American and Latino Students; those include the Pendleton, Weissberger, Adams-Brooks, Pearman, Jenkins, Henderson, Williams, UCSD Black Alumni, and Fundacion Monte de Piedad Scholarships. 

In addition to the scholarship awards, The San Diego Foundation website has a number of other tools to help students, parents, and mentors navigate the scholarships process.

Scholarships are currently available to enrolled UCSD undergraduate students in the amount of $2,500!!!
