Out and About St. Anthony Park

Our intern Emilee speaking with Avalon students.
Avalon Job Fair
On September 26 St. Anthony Park Community Council returned to join Avalon Charter School at their student Job Fair. SAPCC hosts student interns to learn leadership and career skills, in addition to college internships, Board appointments, and other service opportunities. We heard ideas from students on things they would like in the neighborhood, such as a safe crosswalk on Raymond, planting more trees in South St. Anthony Park, and a community center with open activities and safe space for youth to hang out.

Prospect Park Neighborhood Fest
Staff from SAPCC attended the Prospect Park Annual Neighbor-fest on September 25 to connect with our Minneapolis neighbors on border-crossing initiatives on which we collaborate with the Prospect Park Association. Thank you to our hosts at  PPA for your partnership!

Joy of the People hosted the Wildflower Project at South St. Anthony Park for the first annual Wildflower Festival on September 30. Games and raffles were part of this fundraiser to raise money for St. Paul's premiere public permaculture garden. Learn more at thewildflowerprojectmn.org

10-year Planning Community Forums

The St. Anthony Park Community Council is undergoing its 10-year planning process. We heard from hundreds of community members through online surveying, canvassing throughout the neighborhood, and small group conversations on what you want in St. Anthony Park. This feedback is guiding the drafting of our 10-year plan, which will be shared at public feedback sessions in November at locations in North and South St. Anthony Park.

Community meeting dates:
  • St. Paul Neighborhood Network (SPNN) - Saturday, November 11, 12-2 pm
  • Luther Seminary - Wednesday, November 15, 6-8 pm
These will be fun community events to connect with your neighbors and envision the future of St. Anthony Park! We will share the goals our committees have drafted, priorities we heard from community surveying, and have activities to gather more feedback as we continue to define our community for the next 10 years.

There will be documents available online for additional review and feedback. Volunteers are also reaching out to businesses to hear more perspectives about how we can build a strong and sustainable community for all. Be sure to connect with SAPCC to participate in any of these initiatives. Our 10-year plan will be sent to the City of St. Paul to be incorporated into the city's comprehensive plan, which will elevate your voices to citywide planning.

Look for additional ways to stay involved, and send  any other thoughts, concerns, or questions to  info@sapcc.org .

St. Paul Municipal Elections

Election Day is Tuesday, November 7 for St. Paul Municipal elections. Find information about candidates, sample ballots, and polling information from Ramsey County Elections. Early voting also runs from  October 31-November 6 (in-person absentee voting is currently available at the County Government Office).

Ranked Choice Voting is used in Municipal Elections. This process replaces primary elections and allows voters to rank up to three candidates. As on any ballot, voters are not required to select candidates for all races or rank candidates for all choices.  Learn about ranked choice voting online.

Have you moved or changed your name in the last year? You will need to update your voter registration. You can register online and save time at the polls, or register on Election Day. Voters in residential facilities can be vouched for by staff, and students in college housing can use their student ID as proof of residency.

November 16 is Give to the Max Day!
