Reading is fun, especially when there are prizes to be won.  
 
Class prizes will be awarded for most time read (on average) for each grade level!   Each teacher with 100% classroom participation will receive a $25 Gift Card to be used for a classroom purchase.  All students who enter their reading minutes and donations will receive a Read-A-Thon bag tag. 

NEW this year, the  top three readers from each grade level will be invited to celebrate Mt. Bethel's birthday with a party during school hours with special guest,  Principal Appleyard!

On Wednesday, 8/30, CCSD will have an EARLY RELEASE DAY.
Dismissal will be complete at 12:30.  We expect buses to leave campus between 12:27 and 12:30.  Please be at your bus stop at least two hours and five minutes earlier than usual.  Carpool will begin at 12:20.

Our  After School Program is available from dismissal until 6:00 pm on Early Release Days - and has fun activities planned for our Buccaneers!   ASP has a one-time annual $10 registration fee and costs $7/day.  If you have not registered but wish to have your child attend, please register prior to Tuesday afternoon.

What is the purpose of Early Release Days?   
To provide our staff with training.  Mt. Bethel teachers of literacy will receive differentiated training on either Orton-Gillingham methodology or Writer's Workshop and will collaborate with East Side Elementary and Shallowford Falls.  Our paraprofessionals will have the opportunity to learn about small group instruction and differentiation.  Our Specialists will collaborate with ten schools in the Elementary East Area on topics specific to their area of expertise.  Early Release Days provide an incredibly valuable time for our staff to grow as professionals!

We will be having a Parent Information Meeting for the 2017-2018 season of Odyssey of the Mind on  Tuesday, Sept 5th at 5pm in the Learning Commons.
