A Reconciling in Christ synod
Christ’s Church, Better Together with Australian Lutheran World Service
Monday was World Food Day. A day when millions of people around the world come together in the commitment to end hunger – for good.

We are the church that shares a living, daring confidence in God’s grace. With this confidence, we boldly participate in God’s work in the world. Today, I’m writing you to go above and beyond, and join what God is up to in Indonesia.

In commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, we’re partnering with our friends at Australian Lutheran World Service in the ambitious goal of raising a combined $500,000 toward our jointly supported work in Indonesia. Our deadline is Oct. 31.

Lutherans in Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia and the United States are working together, following the teaching of Jesus to love our neighbors in the practical and life-giving way that Martin Luther encouraged.

Your gifts will help fund this cooperative work in Indonesia focusing on sustainable agriculture, education, safe water and sanitation. Any support beyond the goal will go toward other programs where we partner with Australian Lutheran World Service – in Burundi, Cambodia, Kenya, Nepal, Papua New Guinea and South Sudan.

If we each help as we are able, every dollar you give up to our target will be paired with one from our friends in Australia, so we can make maximum impact – together.

This challenge ends Oct. 31. Give now to make this opportunity a reality

As Lutherans, caring for our neighbor is deeply rooted in our belief that we are saved by grace thus freeing us from being focused on ourselves and opening us up to care for others. Our call to care for all is as relevant—and important—today as it was 500 years ago.
