About Our Speakers:
Since the enactment of ACT16, the Medical Marijuana Act, in 2016 in Pennsylvania,  Heather Shuker has taken on the role at the Pennsylvania Medical Cannabis Society as the Managing Director and Events Coordinator. She became involved with the medical cannabis advocacy movement in 2013 and helped establish the organization, Campaign for Compassion, an organization of parents dedicated to advocate and to educate the public as well as the general assembly concerning the positive effects of the often misunderstood realm of cannabis treatment.

Patrick K. Nightingale  is a practicing criminal defense attorney in both state and federal court in Southwestern Pennsylvania. He began his legal career as a prosecutor with the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office in 1996. In 1999 he helped to found the Domestic Violence Prosecution Unit. Since 2002 Mr. Nightingale has specialized in criminal defense with a particular focus on protecting the rights of cannabis consumers. In 2015, Mr. Nightingale joined the Pennsylvania Medical Cannabis Society as Executive Director and takes an active role in crafting rules and regulations for the emerging medicinal cannabis industry. 

Grant J. Shevchik, MD, FAAFP   was born and raised in the Pittsburgh Area. He attended Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD, then the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia. He did his post graduate training in Family Medicine at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh .  His interest in medical cannabis dates back to his college and medical school days. He is currently an active member of the Society of Cannabis Physicians as  well as The International Cannabinoid Research Society

  • State why medical cannabis was legalized in PA
  • Describe in layman's terms why cannabis is safe
  • List two side effects of medical cannabis

About Our Speaker:
Jamie Grace earned her undergraduate degree in Special Education from Slippery Rock University.  She completed her graduate degree in Education with a major in reading and language arts from Duquesne University.  Jamie is also a certified Reading Specialist. 
Jamie has over twelve years of teaching experience in both special and elementary education where she taught kindergarten through eighth grades.
Jamie began work in the field of BHRS in 2002 where she specialized in the field of Autism Spectrum Disorders.  She has twelve years experience as a Director of Autism Services and a Regional Director of Autism Services. 
Jamie is also a Licensed Behavioral Specialist Consultant and a certified BSS (Behavioral Specialist Services) for the Adult Autism Waiver.  In addition, she is a certified Functional Behavioral Assessment Trainer.  

Program Objectives:
At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
  • List three sexual safety rules
  • Describe two strategies to teach social relationship skills
