ADDF-Harrington Scholar Program.

Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation and Harrington Discovery Institute at University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio are pleased to announce the request for proposals for the 2017 ADDF-Harrington Scholar Award.

Funding up to $600,000 over two years. Drug development and project management support through the Harrington Discovery Institute’s Innovation Support Center

Interested applicants are required to submit a Letter of Intent by midnight Friday, March 17, 2017.

Scientists identified 48 potential AMPs in dragon's blood .

These antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are widely expressed short peptides, which have been isolated from insects, plants, marine organisms and mammals, including Komodo dragons show strong antimicrobial activity against both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria.

Komodo dragons, which are native to parts of Indonesia, ambush large animals like water buffalo and deer with a bite to the throat. If their prey does not fall immediately, the dragons rarely continue the fight. Instead, they back away and let the mix of mild venom and dozens of pathogenic bacteria found in their saliva finish the job.

2018 HEINRICH WIELAND PRIZE -100,000 euros.

This prestigious award honours outstanding research on biologically active molecules and systems in the fields of chemistry, biochemistry, and physiology as well as their clinical importance.
