November is Native American and Alaska Native Heritage Month
Tuesday, November 1, marks a month-long celebration of American Indians and Alaska Natives. On Monday, President Barack Obama issued a proclamation from the White House declaring November as National Native American Heritage Month.  For more information click here.

Family TIES of Nevada
Family TIES is pleased to host a Parent Information and Learning Session in December on "Managed Care 101", presented by Amerigroup. 
 
Join us for an informal but informative session on the elements, vocabulary, and value of a managed care approach to services and supports for children with disabilities and specialized health care needs, their families and family members with disabilities.   What is "Managed Care?"  What value does it bring to families who have members with particular health care needs and disabilities?  What should you know to be an informed stakeholder as Nevada considers changing how healthcare and services and supports are delivered to our families?
 
Pat Nobbie, parent and advocate from the Disability Policy Engagement team at Amerigroup, will share information, listen to your concerns and answer questions.   Limited seating.  Please register early.  Snacks and refreshments served.

Health Resources and Services Administration
The Health Resources and Services Administration is opening a cooperative agreement opportunity to support the creation and/or maintenance of a transdisciplinary, multisite Research Network that will accelerate the translation of developmental science into MCH practice, promote scientific collaboration, and develop additional research capacity in the fields of adolescent and young adult (ages 10-25) health. A Research Network is a collaboration designed to conduct research across multiple sites, resulting in a greater collective impact.

AVAILABLE FUNDING AND FUNDING TIMELINE
Grant awards will be made in the $10,000 to $20,000 range 
for a one-year time period.   The March of Dimes Nevada MCH Committee  will review and recommend proposals for funding.
Proposals due: December 2, 2016
Notification of awards via email: January 2, 2017
Signed March of Dimes Grant Agreement due: January 16, 2017
Grant period: January 1, 2017 - December 31, 2017
