November 2016 (Volume 7.3)
Welcome Javier and Rachel: Our New Librarians-in-Residence!
This past month, we welcomed a number of new librarians and staff to the William H. Hannon Library, including Librarians-in-Residence Javier Garibay and Rachel Deras. Both recent recipients of graduate degrees in library science, Javier and Rachel will rotate through multiple departments within Hannon Library over the next two years in an effort to build and diversify their professional experience. Welcome Jessea Young, Our New Digital Library Program Assistant
Jessea is our new Digital Library Program Assistant. Jessea has an MLIS from Simmons College (2016) and a BA in Art History from Cal Poly Pomona. She will be working with librarian Shilpa Rele on the the Digital Library Program, Digital Commons, and Digital Scholarship.

Upcoming Events @ LMU Library
LMU Library Book Drive
Now Through November 21
We are collecting new or gently used books for children 0-10 years old (English and Spanish). All books will go to Los Angeles families in need via the Children's Institute, Inc. Drop-off boxes will be at the library and the LMU Children's Center.
Sunday Jewish Book Group
November 6, 2:00 - 3:30 P.M.
For our third  Sunday Jewish Book Group of the Fall 2016 semester, we will discuss Pictures at an Exhibition by Sara Houghteling. Discussion will be facilitated by Carolyn Peter, director and curator of the LMU Laband Art Gallery.
Food for Fines
November 16 - December 16
Once again this year, we are collecting donations for the Los Angeles Food Bank. In return, we will reduce your library fines $2 for every non-perishable food item. For more information, speak with a staff member at our Circulation Desk.  
Pub Night: David Moffet
December 6, 5:30 - 7:00 P.M.
For our final Faculty Pub Night of the Fall semester, Seaver College of Science and Engineering Professor Moffet will present, "Untangling Amyloid: Slowing the Progression of Alzheimer's Disease and Type 2 Diabetes."
Theater Students Haunt the Library
Once again this Halloween season, students from LMU's Department of Theatre Arts took over the library for our fourth-annual Haunting of Hannon Library. We brought to life stories of time lost and time running out from authors including H.P Lovecraft, H.G Wells, Madeleine L'Engle, William Shakespeare, and Edgar Allen Poe.
