Something to think deeply about...
Like many who are reading this,
we attend a very inspiring adult class on Sundays that includes prayer requests and insightful teaching during class time
Our excellent co-teachers Chuck and Danny are presently taking us through a wonderful study of
!st and 2nd Corinthians Last Sunday Danny showed a gripping short film clip of the struggles, torture and despair that many Christians face in the other parts of the world...it was
sobering and yet inspiring to hear of their faith in such difficult circumstances that we in America know nothing about.
However:
For me it is EMBARRASSING
as I look at the churches described in Revelation 2 and 3...The hardships described that relate to persecution because of faith in Christ...all except the church at
Laodicea
PONDER THIS-
The church at Laodicea is the only church in Revelation 2 and 3 that is not given a commendation...The Lord is so disgusted with the church that is "neither hot nor cold". He says if they don't repent of their being
LUKEWARM He will spew them out of His mouth. They were
rich and
well off...but the Lord says they are
miserable and
pitiful...
Revelation 3:14-22
Quite a
contrast to the other churches-
The church of Laodicea by worldly living standards
HAD IT MADE compared to the other churches, but by God's standards it may well have been the worst off
Without question believers throughout the world
must wonder about the lukewarm American believers...
having so much but being so
lifeless by not proudly acknowledging their Savior, Jesus Christ in their daily lives!
