GOT CONTINGENCY PLANS?
by Cindy Soltis-Stroud, CAI, PRI, BAS - TAA Past President

In any business there are always unexpected roadblocks that occur that are out of your control. Have you developed a contingency plan?... Do your employees or support staff know your contingency plan?

Best practice is to document your contingency plan, review it periodically with a dry run and update it as necessary. Contingency plans are for all of those things than can go wrong. You and your team can brain storm:
1)      What are the potential failures that would impact your ability to perform the best results for your client?
2)    What is the risk associated with each item.
3)    Prioritize your contingency by risk level.
4)    Create alternative actions or activities that would protect you and your client
5)    Implement and test your contingency plan

Documenting and communicating your contingency plan is key to your success. Everyone should be aware and know what to do in the event you have things go wrong. Continue to build your plan as new things occur that you did not anticipate. This will only continue to increase your ability to support your client's success and build your business strength.
