A Message from the President
|
Opportunities can fall in your lap if you are well positioned to take advantage of those opportunities. Positioning is critical in Economic Development and we have worked diligently with our partners to position Macon-Bibb in the most competitive way possible.
The Macon Economic Development Commission's (MEDC) relationship with the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority changed at the end of 2016. As a result, the MEDC has changed its primary focus from recruiting to workforce development. We have consistently heard from our members that finding qualified and motivated employees is their #1 work related issue. Without an effective workforce, a company cannot expand its current level of business.
In that regard, the MEDC's Board of Directors recently approved the MEDC 2018 Plan of Work, and is fully committed to ensuring that we have a qualified workforce for both today's and tomorrow's business needs. This Plan of Work will ensure that our members can continue to capitalize on the opportunities that come their way. The key Strategic Pillars of the 2018 Plan of Work are: Workforce Readiness; Attract, Retain and Develop Talent; Entrepreneurship; and Member Services.
More details about the Plan and the different objectives listed under each Strategic Pillar can be found at maconworks.com. We look forward to working with all of you in addressing your workforce issues in 2018 and beyond.
