LA County Fire Department Battalion Chief, Michael McCormick

As a battalion chief for the Los Angeles County Fire Department, Michael McCormick works to protect the community and his fellow firefighters. "My motivation to get up every day is to keep firefighters safe, to look after their health and well-being," he says.
With a wife and two kids at home, Michael knows well how strong family ties are for many in his battalion. His enthusiasm to serve his community led him to pursue an Executive Master in Leadership degree at USC Price in 2013.
Michael McCormick and nephew, Connor McCormick, at the Colorado Springs Fallen Fighter Memorial 9-17-16.
"The diversity of the EML group, speakers, instructors, and coursework helped us all to be more open-minded. I learned how much I didn't know," he said. He credits the program's group-oriented curriculum with helping him get a promotion  in August 2016 to battalion chief.
Leadership emerges every day, but is essential under intense conditions.
Michael has seen the value and importance of a USC Price education in his own career. He supports the USC Public Safety Scholarship Fund because, "the investment in a young person will pay you back tenfold," he says.
We believe that scholarships supporting public safety professionals help honor every life. Every gift to the USC Price Public Safety Scholarship Fund  is an investment in a safer community.
This Giving Tuesday, please join Billy Brockway and Michael McCormick in their efforts to give back to public safety professionals who help us change the world every day. Support the USC Price Public Safety Scholarship Fund today!

On behalf of all public safety professional students at USC Price, thank you for your support.

Sincerely,
Dean Jack H. Knott
