The Mayors Council of Oklahoma (MCO) and OML will host the seventh annual Congress of Mayors at the original Oklahoma Capitol, the Scottish Rite Masonic Temple in Guthrie, OK on Friday, January 20, 2017.  The goal of the Congress is to give municipal leaders a better understanding of the legislative process as well as provide them the opportunity to interact with their colleagues and lawmakers to get a realistic understanding of municipal issues such as transportation/infrastructure, public safety, municipal operations, community and economic development and municipal finance.

The latest NOI training session was held on November 17, 2016.  42 newly elected and appointed municipal officials gathered at Eastern Oklahoma State College in McAlester to receive their eight hours of state required training.  Throughout the year the Oklahoma Municipal League (OML) provides an intensive educational program specifically tailored for individuals who are newly elected officials as well as experienced officials who want to keep up-to-date on leading municipal issues.  

 

New officials unable to attend the McAlester NOI still have two additional opportunities to receive the training provided by OML in the following cities:  Stillwater and Lawton.  The workshop concentrates on topics such as the Open Meeting Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, Municipal Finance, Ethics and much more.  Don't let time slip away before you register.  For more information and additional dates, see the NOI Page on our Website.
