Greetings from Mr. Gault

The De La Salle School has had some very interesting and important visitors over the last couple of weeks.  We were very honored to host two members of the New York City Fire Department, Engine Company 260 in Long Island City, who came to explain to our students the inner workings of the fire department.  Mr. Frank Donedeo, who is a retired New York City Firefighter and current member of The De La Salle School faculty invited Firefighters David Carpio and Darius Dorsett to speak to the students about the workings of a city fire department. These two firefighters gave the students some great tips on the fire department, fire prevention and fire safety.  It was a wonderful conclusion to Fire Prevention Month.

Last week the school community also welcomed home our own Brother Thomas Casey.  Brother came to school on Tuesday, 8 November to speak to the boys about his pilgrimage to the Holy Land.  Brother joined us for our morning assembly where he gave a beautiful power point presentation outlining his journey "In The Footsteps of Jesus."  At the conclusion of his visual presentation, Brother welcomed questions from the students.  Rising to the occasion the students had some thought provoking questions and of course Brother Thomas was very energized and animated in his response to their queries.  Brother left on Thursday for Colombia to participate in a five-week program designed to enhance his Spanish language skills.  We look forward to his next visit to learn all about his Colombian adventure.

Wishing each of you a Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving
